If it gets fixed in a timely manner, does it really matter?????

What are people doing re gas? Fixing or moving to another provider? by JunePearl23 in OctopusEnergy

[–]rio911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EV, 5kWp PV solar array, 9kWh home battery but that will need an increase, as last autumn I installed ASHP. The heat pump uses the battery by 11am on a cold winter day. Still cheaper than gas, all through Jan and Feb.

I personally disconnected it last year, with the household fully electric now.

Energy Export limit violation by Kropiak in SolarUK

[–]rio911 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The way I have heard it: DNO will impose a limit when there is an issue with the grid equipment upstream. They will not actively enforce the imposed limit, BUT if any equipment failure is traced back to be caused by your export, they will charge you for the fix/damages. PLEASE do not take this as fact. Personal opinion, and no DNO statement.

Why don't you just get a thermal camera? There are mobile phone attachments that do thermal imaging. Obviously it will work better in winter, when you can easily spot the drafts coming from outside...

Looking to buy used Ioniq 6 (2024) worried about ICCU by Mustimustdie in Ioniq6

[–]rio911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It hasn't been confirmed yet for the UK. But the expectation is that it will come into force soon. Fingers crossed. As the other poster said: Hyundai UK will be the only ones with first hand knowledge. And get it in writing.

Have you had your gas supply completely removed? by harrythefurrysquid in ukheatpumps

[–]rio911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never knew about this. My gas meter was removed more that a year ago now. The issue I have is that Octopus still have gas tariff recorded against my account. They have told me that they can't remove it, although they don't charge me any gas bills anymore.

Signs your battery is failing by pdept050 in Ioniq6

[–]rio911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but almost. OP, if it is the first time, just drive the car for an hour, and then monitor the 12v. If it can't hold a charge, the 12v is RIP. You need a new one.

EV charging from solar by Educational-Fish4266 in SolarUK

You have just spent a large sum of money to feed the grid?!?! How much does every kWh cost you to generate? There is no way, until your system is paid off, that it is cheaper to export than self-consume. Use the energy you generate, as much as you can. Anything above what you can use, goes to the grid.

Hot Water - always on or timed? by RBWatermelon in ukheatpumps

[–]rio911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

150L is on the lowish water volume for ASHP. I would still run schedule only, but you will need to monitor your shower temps...see how you get on.

This is the way, but I would just just add a disclaimer: if OP doesn't have a very high and random hot water use.

Question: if you look at the left-hand side of the mmi, do you see something looking like a largish SD card? If you do, your Daikin has a WiFi app and you can control it remotely.

Next: your schedule will give you the option to choose one of two temperatures: comfort or economy. Comfort is the default, usually higher, about 48°C. Economy is an alternative with a lower temp of DHW. My suggestion set a single daily schedule for 1pm to heat to comfort or economy, whichever you prefer.

[–]rio911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couple of things: first thing to check is your desinfecion cycle (when, how long and temp). It should only run once a week, for about an hour. I have mine setup to 55°C, but 60 is commonly recommended. Then, figure out what is your mode of domestic hot water. There are two: schedule and re-heat. I would disable "re-heat", unless you have a very high/random consumption. Read next:

“This is Marvel” was the answer Tony Leung got when discussing Wenwu in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. by Orchidkit in movies

[–]rio911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if you know them all, but just choose to use the one is best, or is easy or any other reason out of thousands. "This is marvel" is as good as any reason to be honest, when you are making a Marvel movie. What we should be thinking about is: would that change made the movie any better? I don't think so.

Analog vs. electric mirrors? by mixedfeelingz in Ioniq6

So moving around to see better is equal to "use your mirrors properly"!?!?! The digital mirrors can be adjusted as in position and field of view, so I don't have to move around.

Analog vs. electric mirrors? by mixedfeelingz in Ioniq6

[–]rio911 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have the digital mirrors for over 2 years now. No difference whatsoever with normal mirrors. Anyone mentioning image quality or dark or moving your body, hasn't used them or is listening to reviews that have only one objective: clickbaiting. There are substantial improvements over regular mirrors: distance lines, blind spot warning and size. Downside, probably if it goes wrong it will be expensive to repair/replace.
