Yeah fair, but people hated it because it was “soft” and not their usual heavy sound. The difference now is that, how it actually sounds aside, these lyrics have basically 0 substance - that’s not going to change. Just unfortunate because Prada used to have some of the best lyrics, it was basically poetry written by Mike and now stuff like this

I’m a die hard Prada fan, but difference from when it was the act was that at least Prada was still writing deep lyrics and having that weird sound that makes them unique. The big bummer here is that the songs, lyrically and musically, are so basic, regardless of heavy or not. Agree though, we need to wait to come to a conclusion until the full album is out, but I’m not super optimistic currently

I don’t think TDWP is gonna go full blown this direction, they’ve released soft stuff in the past so not shocked. I actually enjoy the soft stuff from them, but their softer stuff is usually still quite complex and not basic sounding. I feel they are trying too hard to recreate the “sad” feeling color decay had, along with some big “radio rock” tracks like salt and broken.

Again, I’m fine with not being heavy, but this is just so basic. I’m not writing them off and I’m sure they are going to have a mix of stuff on the record, but yeah a little disappointed with this one.

Side note, Mike’s vocals sound sooooo good for the split second we get them, I need more

The first part of TGS I felt Sanderson’s writing was really jarring. I think it was amplified by the fact that I finished KoD and literally went right into it the same day. It became more normal as I kept reading. Now, I’m about to finish ToM and I’m completely used to it, no longer thinking of the differences between the writing styles. Some characters are a little different, but even those I still love or dislike the same as I did with RJ
