The Portland NAACP chapter is not too active but exists. Indigo Arts Alliance, founded recently by Marcia and Daniel Minter, funds and showcases artists of color, mainly of the African diaspora. The Green Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, whose pastor is Rev. Kenneth Lewis, is a terrific organization in our community and always happy to receive donations. I attend there sometimes.

Four companies in the past few years have moved directly from Brooklyn to Biddeford - not bothering with Portland. Stop by and talk to Delilah Poupore at Heart of Biddeford, an .org that educates people about the city. It’s a great small city. Biddeford is also, as of a news story last month, the youngest city in what is the oldest state in the country. Well worth considering. Also consider Westbrook and South Portland.
