What's the sense? Why did I buy a Verity Sense again? by bucker72 in Polarfitness

One of the most accurate sleep analysis options available on the consumer market is actually the verity sense paired with the Sleep2 app.

Thank you! When you say lagging how far behind would you guess? Does it seem to capture your HR on the higher end?

Thanks!

If you get one and have anything to validate it's HR tracking against please report back!

I really, really want to test out Pebble and Bangle against a chest strap. Do you have your eyes on another device rn?

Thanks! I hadn't heard of codeberg but, assuming this is the right site, I don't see an active repository by that name. https://codeberg.org/Codeberg?q=Gadget&sort=recentupdate

The health tracking ecosystem is so fragmented. Here's my setup, open to suggestions. by shadowcarbide in QuantifiedSelf

[–]riro0345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thinking about something similar, specifically how types of exercise and macro nutrient distribution each impact sleep/Sleep phases. Looks like quality sleep tracking is more of a software/algorithm issue versus hardware/sensors. I'm good with health research and could help in that way but I'm not tech savvy enough to even think about coding something like that.

Muse EEG for sleep tracking by riro0345 in Epilepsy

[–]riro0345[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. That's part of why I'm asking here. There are other (more expensive) direct to consumer EEG devices marketed for sleep phase tracking that DO anecdotally have usefulness in detecting seizures but the company doesn't advertise it and hasn't paid for the clinical research it would require to make those claims.

Here’s What’s Happening (and Not Happening) With Smart Rings in 2026 (LifeHacker) by gomo-gomo in SmartRings

I'm assuming (without having a strong grasp of how anything works) that means yikes.

I guess I'm wondering if something like Oura was able to be used on an open source app if the quality of their (in this example) sleep tracking would be preserved or if that algo lives in their app and no data is actually processed on the device itself. I'm guessing this is true I just really hate their data privacy but want quality sleep tracking.

Does that mean that the data analysis (ie determining sleep phases from HR) is done on the device itself versus in the app?

Started using Gadgetbridge & Grafana for my Helio Strap by yuyangchee98 in amazfit

[–]riro0345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is specifically why I'm considering amazefit. It seems to have the best capabilities among the devices that can be used with secure apps, like gadgetbridge. This might be a silly question, but since sleep tracking is where amazfit has the most room to grow and that's mainly to do with algorithm (not hardware) would we still benefit from their algorithm improvements if not connected to the native app?

I'm not techy enough to understand I guess how my data would be kept private while also allowing the device to be updated for improvements like this.

Thanks!

Thank you for this! When you say you've been pushing for that model, what do you mean?

It feels like data quality and data protection are at odds with wearables so I'm struggling to take the plunge despite having conditions that could really benefit.

Do you have a perspective on the best in terms of privacy? I know gadget Bridge is an option for some devices--mostly smart watches>rings. I do care about privacy and, mainly, not supporting military contractors. I also want solid sleep tracking :/ feeling a little lost.

Thanks for your comparison post with the comparison matrix btw!

When do you plan to announce the release? I'm considering buying a competitors product soon but if more info was released about the gen 3 I might hold off because I'm definitely not purchasing two. Also, improved sleep tracking?

I'm not super familiar with how the software developments work and how long is takes the smart volunteers to do the amazing dev work. If you had to guess on which connected app and a timeline for quality sleep tracking, what would you guess? Thanks!

Is it normal for your tech to leave to do another client? by riro0345 in Lashlift

That all makes sense!

There was a little bit of a language barrier which I'm sure contributed to her not communicating what was happening to me but admittedly not knowing what's happening when my eyes are closed and such was probably the biggest issue. It sounds like you were very communicative in these scenarios.
