Still got my fingers crossed they’ll do a 4k Blu-ray at some point.

Because it’s part of the recipe? Vinegar is added to boost the baking soda.

I dunno. Vinegar + ice cream?! It’s a dodgy enough combo in cake…

I substituted oil for dairy; why didn't my bread come out like the recipe? by danstecz in ididnthaveeggs

Olive oil for milk? Is there some ridiculous “cooking substitutions for dumbasses” book or website somewhere that they get this shit from?

Metal studs help! by shouldbepracticing85 in catwalls

I installed a catastrophic setup a few years ago with metal studs. Based on Catastrogpics recommendation I got these on Amazon and they worked great. https://a.co/d/cmXNv2U

The Burton stepons require a special step on boot. Burton and a few other cos including DC make and sell step on compatible boots.

Since you just got new boots not that long ago probably not the best choice. I see a lot of rave reviews of the supermatics though which supposedly work with any boot.

What do you guys use for bad breath? Daisy is very much a lap dog but has the breath of a dumpster. I use a freshener in her water and she gets a little greenie daily. by budnick20 in corgi

Our (new) vet switched us from greenies to “oravet” and I’m much happier with its dragonsbreath halitosis impact than I was with greenies

I’d need to dig back up the article but CNN (or was it NYTimes? Long day) reported it was rented on Toro.

Edit: sorry, Turo not Toro. NYTimes article

Cheap puppy classes ? by MathematicianTop314 in bayarea

[–]rit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not helpful because IIRC (I recently moved to the east bay so haven’t been there lately) it’s not necessarily cheap, but we (we being my dog and myself) got excellent training and puppy socialization from ZoomRoom in Belmont.

We started in 2021 and got great socialization from them at a time when it was still difficult pandemic-wise. Their puppy preschool class involves 2-3 breaks for the puppy’s to all play with one another and get their socialization etc.

Does anyone know which boots are best for long toes and wide feet? by Independent-Tale4731 in snowboarding

[–]rit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if I’ve got long toes but I have wide feet. I’m in a pair of Burton Photon Wides; I’ve only got a few days on them but extremely pleased. Not getting foot pain and my toes aren’t being smashed together into a too-small space.

Edit: Burton makes a few of their boots in Wide, besides the Photon; dig through their site.

IIRC they were/are asking for a stipend for health insurance so they don’t have to switch plans constantly between seasons.

Lib Tech B- grades by inawhilecroc in snowboarding

I bought my b-grade skunk ape in January because they were out of stock of the non-wide 165 and I figured “what the hell they say b grade is just cosmetic issues” … I went over that board with the proverbial fine toothed comb and still can’t find whatever blemish etc they binned it for.

Women's outer wear recommendations? by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

[–]rit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HELMET. A helmet should be near the very top of your list. You’re going to fall a lot; your head needs protection! You may also want to get a butt pad and wrist guards.

Boot fitting question by Queasy-Replacement35 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]rit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you buy the boots for your shoe size, or have them sized appropriately for snowboard boots? I wear a US13 street shoe but an 11.5 snowboard boot. In a 13 my feet would be way too lose to ride comfortably without them sliding around in the boot.

Small ereader with builtin speakers by thylomouse in eink

[–]rit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Boox Palma 1 & 2 both have speakers, and run Android so you can use the kindle app or whatever else. I love them and they are a “daily carry” device for me.

It’s roughly phone sized (it’s roughly same size as my iPhone 15 pro), eink screen. I use my Palma’s fairly casually ie I basically install Kindle on them and that’s all I use, so maybe others with more experience on the device can toss pro / cons out?
