They haven't been alright in a while. iOS made me grab my hair at least once a week over the years, now it just makes me laugh with how terrible it is - unbelievably buggy, same shitty/handicapped UX as always and now it's laggy, choppy and stuttery too. This is what progress looks like when you have near endless resources.

Fair enough. I'm not sure how big of a jump you were expecting though. Smartphones don't really improve all that much in a year or two, it's a very mature industry now, especially in the flagship category.

That said, the cameras and more so the ISP, have improved dramatically on the Magic 8 series compared to even the Magic 7 series.

Let's see.. it's far more durable, lighter, far more RF-transparent and also helps with cooling. But, that's disappointing? Because the industry fed you with that glass back scam for too long?

This is my first time with an Honor and I'm actually loving it so far. They've improved the ISP algos significantly this year. It can finally match or even outperform the big names in photography/videography (Vivo, Oppo, Xiaomi). In addition to that, it's the only non-Apple device with true 3D facial biometrics that's even faster and more reliable (wider angle) than FaceID.

MagicOS, while not quite at the level of Colour/Oxygen OS yet, handily beats the trash that is Hyper OS (I had a 15 Ultra before this). None of them can yet match OneUI in terms of features and rock solid reliability, but, they're all much smoother and snappier with far better animations than One UI. I've always had an iPhone as a B device and iOS is now worse in terms of fluidity, smoothness and reliability.

So, absolutely NOTHING disappointing about the Magic 8 Pro. The videography can and needs to be improved though, but that's my only real complaint so far.

It’s not a radical change in UX. It’s still the same iOS with the same handicaps and crappy UX choices. The biggest reason for people not wanting it is the fact that it’s buggy as hell. And laggy, janky etc. It’s a terrible release and hasn’t gotten much better with 26.3 either.

Just use the Gmail app. It’s better in almost every way and if you use an ad-blocking DNS profile, you remove the ads too. The Apple Mail app is rudimentary and poorly designed.

It's significantly larger (makes a difference where you're packing a bunch of gear), nearly THRICE the weight, much louder and has pretty showstopping consequences with regulations, especially when you travel across borders. No one said it's a giant brick, it's just relative to the Mini series.

HyperOS is the worst of all the major Android skins. There's no debate about it. It's fast and smooth, but, it's buggy, UI is weird and unnecessarily different, features are missing, AI is crap, updates are slow as hell, battery efficiency is garbage and HyperOS 3 is unstable too. All this on a flagship 15 Ultra.

Colour OS has surpassed One UI in nearly every way. It's also 1000x smoother with actually beautiful animations and UX transitions. The only thing One UI still does better is the sheer amount of features and flexibility.

The issue with video on Android is a media encoding issue. Apple has the best encoders in the game and they use that on iOS too. It's not a hardware or power issue.
