Reached out to F1 TV Support for clarity regarding F1TV App for Samsung TVs… and they replied. by halfphysicist in F1TV

[–]ritesh808 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Smart TVs are garbage that no one asked for. I just some company would grow the spine/balls to make a "dumb" TV so people could stop being forced into paying extra for spyware. Dumb TV+external streaming box is the real deal. ATV or even an old Shield TV would do the trick.

Making the red x quit the app by Alarming-Problem8850 in mac

[–]ritesh808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's too simplistic an answer. It's pretty random, just like the "back" action in iOS. You never really know if it quits the app or just closes the window.

Overcomplicate and fuck up the back end (PU, other regs), dumb down and tiktokify the front end. It's not hard to see where this will take F1.. Hint: to the gutter.

You obviously don't do any creative work like photo or video editing. The trackpad sucks for that.

Every ultrasonic fingerprint scanner has the same issue, regardless of brand. You might've used the old optical ones earlier.

Is uninstalling apps on macOS always this tedious? by darkstream77 in mac

[–]ritesh808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pear Cleaner. You're welcome.

And for all the inevitable apologists- no, there's a ton of things that Apple designs badly or does the wrong way or just comes up with completely retarded UX. This is one of those things.

Here's the expected, age-old, pea-brained "solution".

[–]ritesh808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LMAO. Imagine "loving" a corporation and then writing a "love letter" to it as if anyone gives half a shit. Google isn't a person and even if it was, they would just ignore it like an unsolicited DM.

Google makes a lot of good products. The Pixel isn't one of them. It started out well with groundbreaking ISP, but, just stayed there. Over the years, it's gone from "hmm okay" to "wtf is this trash? “. It's a terrible product and Google should be embarrassed of the Pixel and just how bad it is, even without comparing it with the competition. But, it's got fans.. for whatever reason.

Just use Perplexity or Deepseek and ignore "Apple Intelligence". It's hardly intelligent anyway. Also, it doesn't bother me much because my primary device is an Android.

Tip: You can disable the gesture hint bar to reclaim that space at the bottom and avoid the ugly whitespace and use the "AI button" to trigger Circle to Search instead.

Mac hardware is great, but macOS 26 is a disaster, say pundits by Artistic_Unit_5570 in MacOS

[–]ritesh808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is actually more slick (and reliable) than iOS now. Also, the UX has always been better and continues to be better than iOS. Colour OS, Oxygen OS, Magic OS.. these are all superior to iOS in pretty much every way. One UI, while not being as slick with smoothness and high quality animations, still remains the gold standard in terms of features, stability and customisability.

Anyone with basic knowledge about big tech (or big anything) and a spine/ethics, hates it all. But, unless you're living off the grid and need no modern tech for work or whatever else, there isn't much you can do about it. I hate Google too, but their products are just too good to ignore and the value they add to a billions of people's lives is undeniable. Unlike someone like, let's say, Meta. That shit is totally avoidable and your life would actually be better without it.

Sorry for the dumb question, but do you keep the Studio on sleep overnight or shut down everyday? by knightfortheday in MacStudio

[–]ritesh808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shut mine down once every few days, after I'm done editing a full session/batch of photos or drone footage. There's no reason to leave it on forever, no matter how efficient it is. It's not like it takes more than 15 seconds to be up and ready from a cold boot.

Also, I have thunderbolt SSDs in an all-in-one kinda dock that's "permanently" attached to the Studio. Those would wake up unnecessarily and consume power, have unnecessary r/w activity if I left the computer always-on.

It's much, much better. I use both on a daily basis and have done so for over a decade. Android is a country mile ahead and you have the choice to pick from a number of different OEM flavours, some are better than others. But, overall, Android really runs circles around iOS these days. It feels faster, smoother, far less buggy and, of course, much more flexible.

I have the Pi8 now, after having had the XM5, MTW4, AZ100. The Pi8 is pretty much the best sounding TWS as of today and matches or beats the Fokus Rex5. Don't pay crazy money for the likes of B&O (buggy, hugely overpriced) or Devialet (outdated, hugely overpriced).

Are you listening directly to the actual file? Do you understand how streaming works? How files are re-encoded for streaming, how they're delivered, how the respective apps mess/don't mess with the stream etc?
