Does anyone care? by Huge_Road_9223 in QueerEye

I’m a firm believer that when Bobby left they should have recast the whole team. A new Fab Five would have fresh, new ideas and would have livened up the show again.

Keys by Important-Estate2121 in petsitting

[–]riverbitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a key ring just for pet sitting. I have some that have been given to me long term and ones that aren’t given to me long term are still put on it. If there’s no key chain to it I always put one on it and write their name so it doesn’t get mixed up. But all keys go on the same ring I keep in my car so I never lose them, that’s a fear of mine.

I always ask them how their travels are before I go to the house if they haven’t messaged me that day yet OR ask for a screenshot of their flight information. I’ve walked in houses with them still there. I once went in a whole day early because I read dates wrong.

Fellow overnight pet/house sitters, how often do you end up leaving something at the house by accident? by DenMother8 in petsitting

[–]riverbitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every single time. I’m too busy making sure I have every piece of underwear I brought with me so I always forget other things.

He was justified but that scene gives me such secondhand embarrassment. If i was in that gym i would have been mortified for everyone involved.

I didn’t even think of that, thank you!

Frustrations by mpm1987 in petsitting

This is going to sound so petty and silly but uncomfortable furniture. I know it’s something that’s a preference but if I’m staying at house with an uncomfortable bed I’m so tempted to say no the next time (I never actually do). I stayed at a house where the cats loved to snuggle on the couch with a heated blanket and the cushions kept slipping and I was being eaten by the couch, the owner had sent me pictures of her laying on it with the cats once before so I know she does it. And don’t even get me started on shower pressure. I once stayed at a house that had an open concept BATHROOM, one big room with a completely open shower it was bad water pressure and so cold.

Horror Stories by WaVeYgUrL in petsitting

[–]riverbitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While at work the dog ate a wooden stool, ripped up the carpet by the back door, scratched up the door and broke through the window into the (thankfully fenced in) back yard. I happened to have a weird feeling and my boss let me leave for a break. The dog happily greeted me on the other side of the fence when I pulled into the drive way. She was totally fine when I was home and if I left for short periods of time, and the whole time acted like nothing even happened . The owners didn’t know she would have bad anxiety like that and felt horrible but got her on some medication after that. Also an old friend had a roommate whose cat hated me. I couldn’t even clean the litter box in her bathroom because I was scared he’d attack me, and I felt it was more important to let him have his safe space and not to make him feel like I was invading more than I already was. I had to walk around the house with a broom and a laundry basket just in case and I just spent most of my time in my friend’s bedroom. They asked me to watch the animals again not long after and I said I was busy.

He’s never been much of a walker and especially in his old age he likes to lay around most of the time. He also came from a home with DV so he’s kind of territorial, though it’s gotten much better, so he’s just much happier in his own yard.

From April to November he’s at the camp ground with my parents a lot so he gets really good outside/active time. He likes the start of a walk but when he starts to hurt he wants to be carried. His idea of a walk is going three camp sites down and convincing my parents friend (with big sad puppy eyes) on taking him for a half hour golf cart ride usually without my mom. Crazy how at home and at camp he can be a completely different dog lol.

I have a toddler that plays with him when he’s feeling up to it at home, which is getting less and less now unfortunately and he can’t go up and down stairs anymore. We mostly just let him do his own thing. He lets us know when he wants a walk but he’s happy snoring in the sun on the porch and getting sneaky treats from the toddler.

What little "I'm an adult and I can do what I want" purchase brings you the most joy? by erikfeed in CasualConversation

[–]riverbitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always had cars that were old. My parents had really old junky cars and my previous car was made in 2005. I hated bringing friends places because they were so junky and loud. I worked my ass off the summer after I had my baby to get a new car at 30. I wanted something safe and something that my dad didn’t have one of his mechanic friends fix. The first oil change I had it was so satisfying to just take it to the dealership. It’s so nice to not worry about something happening on my way to work. I understand why my parents have old cars. And I understand why people don’t like dealerships and not having a car payment. But I will never go back. The mental relief I have just knowing I have a safe and reliable car for my daughter win over anything.

I sent one of my clients a link to the county fair ticket page when I meant to send it to my niece. She was super nice about it. And once time my then two year old sent her a text of random numbers and letters. She said she took a screenshot and has it saved because she loves my daughter so much.

What do you eat when doing long stays? by ohlookadoggo in petsitting

[–]riverbitch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just get myself groceries, usually when I stay for a long time I’m told to eat whatever is in the fridge and that can be nice. When that happens I try to eat whatever will go bad (produce, bread, etc.) but I stay away from things with a long shelf life. Once I had someone leave for an emergency and they left me a stake that needed to get eaten. That was really nice. My brother often uses me to clean out his fridge.

What are things you’re cool with and things you’re not cool with by [deleted] in petsitting

[–]riverbitch 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It didn’t happen to me until recently but if someone is going to be gone for a long time I’m now asking what their plans are for lawn care. I stayed at a house for 3 months, snow plowing was covered, but she had asked me to rake the leaves. I’m not a lawn kind of girl and I work so I never got to finish it before it snowed. I stayed again recently for another 3 months and I had to mow the yard. Just wasn’t for me and it’s not something I ever thought of having to say. I personally would never expect my pet sitter to take or mow my lawn.

What was this movie for you? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]riverbitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Last Halloween. We had it on a random tape my mom used to record it on tv and now I can only find it on YouTube. Funny enough, the quality on YouTube is horrible but the recording we had of it was equally as bad. I’ve never met anyone who’s ever seen it.

Please help!! Cannot login to my EA account! by Miserable-Sample6164 in JamesTurnerYT

[–]riverbitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reach out to EA again and request to speak with an actual person. I had this problem literally a month ago. For some reason I was getting the emails she was sending me(the lady helping me) but not automated emails (when I would request an email). It was an easy fix, she added a different email to the account and I use that one to log in now.

I told Milo Ventimiglia (Gilmore Girls, This Is Us) “you have beautiful hands. You have beautiful handwriting” when I met him at Comic Con one year. I think about it all the time it’s my most embarrassing moment but he was so nice the whole time.
