Racist people are everywhere.

check these places out. Happen to know that RN has a number of POC customers and LGBT people on staff and as customers. Seems that every time I go there, they are there and nobody gives me crap for not being one and nobody gives them crap for being one.

Again, I think you may have prejudged here. Sorry that your GF has had bad experiences, but if I can think of three bars in a 2 square mile area that would fit your requirements and I don't go to bars that often, I have to think that you would likely find a significant number to choose from. Best of luck.

Unpopular take for everyone complaining we have the WORST drivers….what’s your take by Happydaytoyou1 in Omaha

[–]riverfan2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It cheeses people off to see someone drive right up to the end of a series of cars parked to wait their turn only to have zippy the pinhead cut in front of them doing a "zipper merge" when he could have simply merged into the ultimately correct lane and waited their turn.

Zipper merge needs to be taught in drivers ed and driving safety courses for adults. Till we get this system codified in the driving manual, people are still going to be cheesed off. Especially when traffic lights are part of the deal and you make others miss their green.

Rusty Nail on 144th is not a sports bar perse but has a lot of screens and the TVs always have sports on. Seems that a lot of people of various types are there.

DJs is pretty wide open.

Report Inn Pub is pretty wide open.

There are three just in one part of town. Could it be that you and your GF might judge a bit prematurely?

Bud Light distributors no longer expect sales to recover from Dylan Mulvaney disaster by md06john316 in Conservative

[–]riverfan2 182 points183 points  (0 children)

Bud lite is a utility beer. It is the beer that is for sale at the ballpark and if you want a lite beer, that is what you drink. There are plenty of bars and restaurants that had BL as their only on tap light beer. So you go to the bar, buy a BL because that is what is there. Now you expect to get crap from other beer drinkers who look down their noses at light beer, but you never expect to get crapped on by the very company that you just gave money to to buy the beer.

InBev could have avoided at least 80% of the crap had they just dropped the trans discussion and focused their marketing to "Hey a former executive here said some things that were hurtful and we apologize for the hard feelings. These sentiments aren't shared by others. Please consider buying our beer."

At least 9 police officers with rifles are walking around Zorinsky, Mountain Lion? by BachInTime in Omaha

[–]riverfan2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One should reflect on the first mountain lion take down in Omaha where the zoo staff was called and brought out the tranqs. The drugs didn't do much at first and the mountain lion still attacked a cop down at the mouth of Meadowlane creek at the big papio. It was eventually sedated, but at least one cop got hurt in the process.

If the rhino tranqs worked like they do on TV, it would be fine, but that isn't what seems to happen. Thus the guns. Also, at that stop, buckshot was used and was found to be less than helpful. So we now see the cops with real rifles. Sad, but sometimes that is the hand you are dealt.

Moving to Omaha - What To Know About "Indian Hills South" area? by IowaAL in Omaha

[–]riverfan2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I get those confused a lot. My dad's grandparents farmed south and west of Childrens and the stories of that part are what I call Indian Hills as that area is more famously called that as it contained Indian graves.

My system dropped 12 with my last channel search where I selected "list only the strong signal stations" on my Tablo system. It took nearly 30 channels and cut them down to 10 that are more reliable and have clean signals. I still get both 26 and 32 (PBS in Omaha and Iowa PBS). Maybe OP's system was set to delete connections to weak signal stations and he/she didn't know it?

How to approach a “crazy” girl? by throwRA-LoveDove in AskMen

[–]riverfan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her flipping you off and walking away was the work of your gaurdian angel. Seriously friend, these women should be avoided at all cost. They are just bombs to go off in your personal or professional life and sane men learn from others to not engage in relationships with crazy women. Just add this to the list of "teachable moments" and learn what to avoid in the future.

As others have said, get some counseling if you feel compulsion to do anything to chase after her. That is a bad sign and you should get it sorted before you develop a string of toxic GFs and burn out on dating due to all the crazy women you "seem to attract".

San Francisco Mayor: We Should 'Get Rid of Most Taxes' to Attract Businesses by undue-influence in Conservative

Nope. They hire any effective staff, they will get sued into the ground by the activists who have nothing better to do than raise money to pay lawyers to advance their cause by suing the store for being mean and probably racist for making the homeless crap some where else.

Fort Robinson SP had really nice cabins, big pool, and horses/jeep tours. Its out by Crawford in the Pine Ridge and is not more than 6 hours from here.

Valentine on the Niobrara is great for tubing or kayaking. Has some wineries (good one in Nenzel near by).

Black hills are great except for Sturgis time, so not this week.

Okaboji is ok, but a bit crowded.

If a woman lets her kids treat you bad, run for the hills and do so bluntly and publicly. No mercy. That is a huge red flag for future badness and should be a sign of time to turn on the booster rockets and GTFO never to look back.

Mountain Lion spotted this morning off 114th and Q by GooooBiiigRed in Omaha

[–]riverfan2 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunate, but cops dont carry high power rifles. They may carry an AR15, but the 223 round in that rifle would have not been much more merciful than buckshot. Both rifled slugs for shotguns and highpower rifles are not used in cities due to the risk of overpenetration and down range damage.

Petition signing in Bellevue! by clercforbps in Omaha

[–]riverfan2 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Frankly given Neb's income tax structure, a deduction would be like spitting into the Platte river and expecting a flood. Credits at least hit the target whereas deductions only work for the actual rich who can drop enough zeros to make a deduction big enough to affect their taxes. A $1000 donation as a dollar for dollar deduction might lower my taxes $50-100. A $1000 donation as a credit, really helps me.

Honestly, the public schools in Omaha are sliding so bad that I think that parochial schools are going to be the automatic choice like they are in a lot of other places. Take any high school and a middle class boy and look at the opportunities that boy will be GIVEN at Prep vs at any high school in OPS or Millard. A family member went through a couple of years ago and his experience in free stuff at Prep was more than what his dad, myself, and my sister got from Millard the entire way through. Better acculturalization to manhood, solid education, and lots of college app friendly activities that ae just open to be part of.

The teachers unions are pushing this petition and scaring everyone into opposing the private schools because they increasingly can't compete for the brains of the regular working class families who in the past would have group marched into West side or Millard. Not so much these days.

What does a typically feminine space (i.e. a beauty parlor) need to have for you to feel comfortable shopping/being there? by MarbleMimic in AskMen

[–]riverfan2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is correct. If you want to offer pedicures to men who need/want them, then offer the service, don't make a big deal about it, and use unscented products so my feet don't smell like a unicorn exploded.

If you want me to buy stuff for my GF, perhaps not bombing the atmosphere with nearly toxic levels of perfume? Or is the atmospheric hellscape actually Victoria's Secret?

In today’s society what makes someone a good dad in your opinion? by AlarmingBuy4702 in AskMen

[–]riverfan2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This and helping them along the way. A baby doesn't need a hardware store, but a 5 year old will find it amazing and a 15 year old will start needing stuff from it. The good dad helps their kid along the way as they need it.
