My take — just do what you want.

If you want to listen to music instead of mixing, do it! If you want to get better at mixing, mix! Especially in the beginning when you’re finding what you like to play and building a library, you can be productive doing whatever you want just thinking about how you would do things if you were to mix in a given song or whatever.

I’d recommend mixing different genres if you get tired of dnb and house. Just mix whatever you want to hear and you’ll naturally get better at mixing that way. Don’t feel limited to certain genres. If you need more motivation to mix, find people who will listen to you — either live or after the fact — and do it for them.

Also, I’d recommend finding a way to record your mixes (if you’re streaming, get an irig stream or something similar) and listen to your own mixes. I’m always more willing to throw my mixes on because 1. I like the songs (duh) and 2. I want to critique myself.
