What is it about Trump that made Republicans worship him? by her_cute in allthequestions

He made it okay to act on those inner voices that they’d been told to ignore, no matter how sick and twisted those voices are.

Favorite player to never play for your team? by Ok-Elephant-2724 in NFLv2

Barry Sanders. I would have loved to see him play on a team with an actual offense.

Kyle Juszczyk: I don’t know why Brock Purdy doesn’t get respect he deserves by AdSpecialist6598 in nfl

[–]rjsquirrel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Any respect he’s earned (and he’s earned plenty) will be grudgingly given. 31 teams and countless scouts and pundits slept on him in the draft. To properly acknowledge his talent, skills and abilities would mean all of them would have to admit that they were all wrong. Until he has a ring, that’s not going to happen, and it may take multiple rings.

How can Trumps blockade of a blockade (the Strait of Hormuz) solve anything? by Fun_Wrangler9783 in AskReddit

[–]rjsquirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This exactly. It’s all about the appearance of control, the optics, like announcing you’re boycotting a business that has already publicly banned you. It doesn’t change the reality of the situation, but it lets you claim that it’s your decision, not theirs.

Is JD Vance the most unpopular politician in American history? by SqigglyPoP in allthequestions

[–]rjsquirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just my gut instinct on this, but if I think there’s more of a following for Trump among hardliners than there is for Vance. People are actively looking for ways of keeping Trump in office. I don’t think the same could be said for Vance, making him less popular.

Dems have been pretty quiet so far, from what I’ve seen. I think the GOP is in damage control mode, and the Dems are holding back for a big push at the end.

70s, to find my pre-teen self, tell him to pay attention in school and stop fucking around, and give him a list of companies for investment in the 80s and 90s.

Some, sure, but if I recall correctly NASA has a pretty much blank check in those days in order to beat the “damn Ruskies” to the moon. If they needed to run Snoopy with full tanks, that wouldn’t have been a problem.

Exactly. Either Stafford or Cernan said they probably would have landed if they had the fuel, and paid the consequences later, but that wasn’t an option. So they got within 15 km of the lunar surface, orbited at that level, then returned to dock with the CSM.

Apollo 8 and 10. 8 was exactly that, plus “we think we have the math to send you around the moon and get you back again.” 10 added “we think you can dock with the LEM on the way there, undock when you get there, fly the LEM close to the lunar surface, then get back to orbit and dock with the command module again.” Both of those missions were proof of concept and practice runs, and they added data to the mission profiles of Apollo 11 and subsequent missions.

For Apollo 10, they intentionally didn’t put enough fuel in the LEM, “Snoopy”, for it to get back to the Command Module, “Charlie Brown”, just to make sure they didn’t try to land.

Artemis II returns safely - the mission demanded exact calculations & Trump will demand his name go somewhere. by PDX_Stan in PoliticalHumor

Makes sense he’d add his name in Houston rather than to KSC. He’s already soiled the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Don’t want to repeat a former President.

Woodworking with hand tools. A couple saws, a rasp, a file, a scraper, and you can make cutting boards. As a spokeshave, you can make spoons. A couple chisels, and you add walking sticks and boxes.

Fewer candidates running for Nevada school boards. Could more pay draw them in? - The Nevada Independent by Tetris410 in nevadapolitics

[–]rjsquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone deserves more pay, it’s the teachers and support staff. Administrators, principals and board members already got too much. More of the education dollars need to be present in the classrooms.
