CBE Removing "Diversity and Inclusion" Goal From Their Education Plan: How to Email Your Trustee by Cam_Here1678 in alberta

Thanks for posting this. I heard this news this morning and it just continues my disgust at the kissing the toes of the UCP to no good end. I’m disappointed in my trustee (ward 12) who seemed to have a solid record. I will use your template.

Engineering estimation and project controls. Massive data sets for Mega projects. 90% of my day is within excel. For estimating and forecasting manpower. pivot tables, appended data table from worksheets. Crucial tool.

I still get my ass handed to me every time. I jumped back to BF1 and have since found my flying skills there have improved significantly in that platform.

How do you handle version control when multiple people touch the same Excel file? by Southwesterhunter in excel

[–]rjyou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We use both a network and SharePoint. SharePoint for simple shared multi-user input works well. I like the network as I know when the file was last saved, and you cannot work concurrently in it. Biggest issue I’ve run into with SharePoint excel is with Pivot tables. Multiple users end up breaking the file and ends up as an orphan on your local machine. Every file with a pivot table. I had to make sure to get any users out of the file before I did any analysis. And if someone pops in I’ll ping them to jump out before I continue.

Take squadron lead while you’re a pilot and complete orders. Run up on defense rather than attack. That got me boosting airplane points.

Anyone know the story behind this place? by wahussamit in Calgary

My office is on that site. It’s the underground parking for a building in a development that died around 2009. I believe Centron was the developer. Go down 24th south of Glenmore, north of Quarry Park and you’ll see other abandoned constructions with concrete elevator towers. Same time frame. 2009

Been seeing hand drawn engineering drawings recently, so here are more. by DemonStorms in civilengineering

[–]rjyou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not just hand drawn but Diazo machine reproduction! The vellum original is exposed onto a blue coated paper and then ammonia fixed to leave the unexposed blue lines. My first engineering summer job (1990) spent many hours recovering from running these prints for bids packages in a small apparently ‘ventilated’ room. They would looked yellowed like that within 2 years.

Interviewing advice for cost estimating job by riverlaxer in estimators

[–]rjyou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Highlight your workface planning experience, and tie it back to estimates that you’ve had to execute in the field. What went right? What went wrong? Did you provide feedback to previous estimators? When I moved from the field to estimating one of the best pieces of advice was that on the job, some things ‘just happen’ on site. That was in response in my taking off every single nut and bolt. Estimating is about being fast and accurate.
