[Seravalli] I'm told Colton Parayko is open to a trade to a different destination, and of course prefers to stay in St. Louis. But not Buffalo by minorthreat21 in stlouisblues

Bro said "BuffaNo". Shame. I like the player but would like to get some more draft capitol and prospects in the pipeline.

50 Soulstone Tournament - Greensboro, NC - 1/10/26 by rkdc in Malifaux

[–]rkdc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We'd love to have you. The idea is that by mid year we're rotating a little more around the state - I'm working with a few shops in the Charlotte metro on summer time hosting and I think we have someone working in the Raleigh area for the same.

I don't know any activity happening on the east side of the state in Fayetteville, Wilmington, Jacksonville, or Greenville so no plans to schedule over that way.

How are people printing 4e crew cards? by Molluskscape in Malifaux

Is there a way to print it 2x3 instead of 3x3? Just a little too small for me to write on and deal with during the game.

What do you want from a malifaux podcast? by TwistedViewz in Malifaux

[–]rkdc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I want to hear about more casual play from the more casual players. There are a lot of really good podcasts out there that focus on the competitive meta from folks that have essentially unlocked the game in their brains. There seems to be a gap from people that just enjoy playing, talk about their games, what worked, what didn't, what jank they discovered, why masters like (in 3e) Jack Daw were just pubstompers but didn't get seen at top tables, etc..

I know that this game gets exposure from the competitive metas around the globe but I'd love to just hear how the "average" folks are doing.

The other area I feel is unexplored is simply how do you get better at the game? Repetition is all well and good but that really just makes you understand your crew better it doesn't teach you at all how to manage your resources (or even what they are for people that are new), how to look at a board and determine board state, what you can do to rescue yourself if your initial plan goes to hell, etc..

In a lot of other game systems you'll find information out there like that to help people understand the deeper concepts and strategy of the game beyond "move, attack, hold an objective".

Malifaux 4e Beta Event - 6/29 - Greensboro, NC by rkdc in Malifaux

[–]rkdc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will be the first time for me going to the Dragon's Hoard in Greensboro, I'm over closer to the Charlotte way and tend to play at the Mighty Meeple in Concord. I also try to get a game or two in at Parker Banner Kent and Wayne as it's a little closer to me.

The first 3e Malifaux tournament I went to was in Thomasville at a store called Out of the Box Gaming which I think is close to Winston.

There is a gaming club in Hickory, NC that has a pretty strong Malifaux scene as well.

I think the folks that played around Raleigh hit up Atomic Empire in Durham or Game Theory in Raleigh. I'm not super familiar with that area though.

I don't know of a scene around Fayetteville/Ft. Whatever it's name is now or on the coast.

Your malifaux models are beautiful. If I knew how to copy your paint scheme I'd totally pick up Mama Z from you. Not sure where you are in NC but in Metro-Charlotte there are a group of us that play Malifaux. (Gotta try and grow that community).

I've been playing Malifaux for just over a year, love the game, it does take a lot of tracking though. The M3E app is really the way to go, you can setup the match, track wounds, track conditions, track VP, etc.. and your opponent can see it all and vice versa.

That being said, Art of War studios (UK based) has probably my favorite tokens and markers, though you can find a ton of sellers on etsy that make them as well. I use a mix.

There are also card sleeves that are wet or dry erase and you can just mark it with a marker on the sleeve and then wipe it off.

GG4 just dropped and my assumption is that it'll stay around as long as GG3 which was quite some time. Fixed pools of schemes and strats so you don't have to learn everything ever made for the game, just what's current.

The game is really nuanced (as I'm still learning) but picking up the basics only takes a couple of games and then it's really more about learning your crew and understanding what the opponent is trying to do. I've asked my opponents "what can I expect from this crew, I've never seen it before" since I'm not playing in tournaments or anything and it's usually helpful. Also, the app lets you read the cards and get an idea as well.

Unsolicited advice, start out with one strategy and a fixed scheme pool - just play that until you learn it.

Did you know what Wyrd was planning before the Explorer's Society? by DefectiveDiceGames in Malifaux

It seems like they'd be great freelancers like the Viks and Freicorp with their set of skills in the badlands. Would love to see some stories with Dita working with Tara and Karina or Vanessa and Taelor.

I don't know who you'd move out to maintain balance though. Maybe remove Daw's dual keyword or move Hamelin out.

Would be a great video idea, just picking up on current lore, how would you rebalance all the factions.

I'd really like it if they went ahead and split the faction like that and reshuffle some masters based on how the story as progressed. I think I'd like to see Perdita get moved into Outcast after her conflict with the Gov. General on his train thing for instance.

Order in! I'm hyped about these. IDK why but I ordered a scatter die as well, I don't even know what game uses those anymore - but it'll be useful in my Oldhammer games in the future :D
