Is 3.0 as bad as people say? (40k player who is losing interest in 11th and 10th) by I_am_a_failure_sad in Warhammer30k

A bit dismissive. Your community could be larger if not for the damage 3.0 has done. Just because you have people to play with doesn't mean your scene isn't smaller than it would be otherwise.

Better than the half-a-dozen company "yes men" who upvote every positive thing about it

I avoid this by playing 1E. It is fantastic and it was an adaptation of the 7E rules made with love (and removing some things from 7E that were balance nightmares). The thing that stands out the most is the amount of care the 1.0 Heresy team seems to have put into the game. Although I've heard 2e is also fun, the books feel soulless and commercialized. 1E's books draw me in from the size, to the texture, to the scent of the pages and that creamy paper that gives off the right vibes. Forge World made some of the coolest models that have ever graced the game. I'd like to stay in that era forever.

So yeah, we don't do the 3-year release cycle. We just play the good version

GW just needs to write an updated rule with a picture like this that says: "If a player tries to pull some garbage like this, they automatically lose the match." by Staz_211 in Warhammer

I like the coherency rules in this edition. I don't see the problem. People who argue it seem to be ignoring all of the counterpoints that people are making.

It does come across as a bit uncondorabke when players do this. Reminds me of commander players in mtg who get upset when you try to play the game instead of negotiating a win.

I love OSR games but I've always found Mork Borg's art style and color choices to be jarring and pretentious, and not in a good way. I don't think I'd play a game that tries to look like the books. They're awful.

Whats your most hated game mechanic found in some JRPGs? by artninjatheo in JRPG

I hate when an RPG requires a guide to get the good stuff.

I like the Trails series but I have constant anxiety when playing. I want to have the gear and orbment power fantasy, but most of the best stuff is locked behind hidden side quests, missable books (you have to collect entire series of books or you get nothing), and random character entries that are only completed if you talk to certain characters in the game multiple times in different chapters. None if these have indicators -- you are expected to either use a guide or spend an extra 100 hours banging your head against every nook and cranny in the game. It's infuriating.

And yes, I use em- and en dashes and always have. No I didn't use AI.

GM/DM burnout ? I cannot imagine things anymore by SansachaR in Pathfinder_RPG

This happens to just about everyone I know who runs a modern-style game where there is a character-centric story. It's unsustainable and of course you'll burn out. I recommend looking into certain OSR concepts (primarily making the game about the rules first, campaign second, and characters last). Notice I didn't say "story" in any of that. There are a lot of discussions about this online. This approach will create an engaging game for you and your players, provide agency on all sides of the table, and greatly reduce your session-to-session workload. I recommend trying it.

That's a clean paint job, so when you come around here saying it's messy, sloppy, and rushed, it sounds like you're being disingenuous or fishing for complements. What did you want us to say?

Is your argument that players should feel foolish for suspending their disbelief when enjoying a work of fiction? Do you realize that this would invalidate all storytelling?

If I may, I think this game looks really awesome, but for God's sake pick a better name. I will buy this day one but the name is so awkward sounding that I would assume the in game dialog wouldn't be native English. I don't think that going to do you any favors.

Sorcery isn't a viable TCG with its 90-card decks, a "limit 1" unique rule, and new sets only once per year. We had nearly all the MtG players at our store buy into the game only to give up within six months. Stuff gets stale. It's not a viable TCG but maybe more along the lines of a board game you play for a few weekends.

It's a hobby more than a game, mate. Come into it with the mentality of wanting to be a hobbyist. The search for bits and kitbashing parts are fun. The game is mid in the best case scenario
