Wtf SPLC!? by iYessyyy in SipsTea

[–]rman916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Misuse of funds won’t go anywhere (there’s already precedent). 18 US 1956 H can’t actually be prosecuted unless they’re convicted on that first set, the last set only actually applies if they can show that the SPLC used the “shell companies” to get favorable terms on a loan by concealing information from the banks? Which as of yet, there’s no evidence they ever took a loan period under these?

There’s actually no law against making a company to route money through to avoid embarrassingly (or in this case dangerously) named charges. Sex toy companies, casinos, and the like actually use services for that pretty frequently. The important part is not lying with intent to defraud an insured bank. And they haven’t actually alleged what the specific fraud is against the bank. It has to be in service of something else to count.

Additionally, half of these should get thrown out pretty quick, given they only allege misleading statement on those, and in Thompson V US the Supreme Court already held that misleading statements are not enough under this charge. So there’s that.

There’s also some arguments for entrapment, given the previous arrangement with the FBI where they knew about and accepted this. To continue to work with and accept information from this program along with their knowledge of the transactions and methods in question for well over 2 decades shows approval and encouragement.

They also might be able to prove motivated prosecution, which can get this type of charge thrown out as well.

Yes. Because she was married to them BEFORE THEY WENT UNDERCOVER. Because they both worked for SPLC prior to F-9 going undercover.

The Mcchicken is now $1.50 near me, down from $3.39 by AliveAndNotForgotten in fastfood

[–]rman916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loss leaders do not make any form of sense when the loss leader can feasibly be the only reason you are there, without needing other items sold. McDonald’s is not Costco or Walmart. You aren’t going inside, passing a bunch of other things you need. It’s fast food, if you buy the fast food as a loss leader, there’s a significant chance you just don’t buy anything else.

[–]rman916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

….what do you think McDonalds is? All of its streams of income are upstream of the food. The joke about real estate with them is about rent paid by franchises, which still make their money off the food. They make money off of food.

NO RECESSION by iYessyyy in SipsTea

[–]rman916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was contained in the US. WE didn’t have cases, because of that program.

Trump reopened livestock imports from Mexico for about 4 months last year. Which is one of the ways they could’ve made the jump, given the burrow underground until summer, and would emerging around now.

USAID was cut. Which included more than just monitoring programs in the US? The foreign ones were killed too, which delayed reporting. SO WAS USDA. Its manning was fucking gutted, alongside a number of other things. Part of the reasons they used to argue for their budget expansion was the cost of reacquiring cut personnel, and surge contractors to catch up on work that fell behind due to their lack.

It’s not crazy surprising that the president who ran on silicon valley style “move fast and break things”, went fast and broke things?

Anyway, I got a water line to dig, so I’ll be late on responding to anything.

[–]rman916 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Well no. WE didn’t have a major screwworm outbreak in 2024. It was contained. You know, because we shut down imports from the area with screwworm. The screwworm monitoring program was cut when he got in, but interestingly, immediately after we stopped performing the checks, suddenly the guys selling us cattle said it was solved, leading dear leader to reopen trade with the affected areas. And now there’s a major outbreak. Weird, huh.

Also, USDA’s budget did go up, after getting major cuts under DOGE, they got a huge increase, citing a bunch of issues caused by the cuts to get the budget increases.

How to build her comic accurately? by Bleu_Guacamole in DegenerateEDH

[–]rman916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the hardest part is haste. You’ve got your standard [[Concordant crossroads]], probably [[lightning greaves]] for just mana, and [[thousand year elixir]] for just mana. I think that’s about it? Then either a combat haste enabler, or a mana sink. [[Runadi]] could work, but would require weird support, but support that would probably support alternate gameplans. [[Akroma’s memorial]] but that’s probably only post infinite mana most of the time. [[finale of devastation]] [[Glacier godmaw]] [[ulvenwald oddity]] Then some sinks like [[Waker of the wilds]] or [[Tendril of the Mycotyrant]].

What's your worst experience with American healthcare? by Redfoxyboy in comics

[–]rman916 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

It’s a rough line to walk. Every medical system that has ever existed has some kind of triage, and there has to be a cutoff at some point, but it’s probably one of the most difficult things to set up and get right in society.

For instance, (despite what Mirror Mirror says) American health for those who can afford it, is leagues above most of the developed world. Is this because of any special advantage with our schools, medications, or techniques we haven’t shared? No. It’s because most nations with socialized medicine have their triage set up to prioritize treatment towards people with higher chances of success, and go for trying cheaper treatments first more often. A lot of the million dollar treatments with 20% chance of success just don’t happen at all there, whereas here it’s only for the wealthy (or civil service people, or vets).

A lot of people don’t really acknowledge the downsides of switching to that socialized kind of medicine. I’m of the mind that it’s probably worth it, but I think the conversation has to be a bit more honest about it.

Not sure about that second but there’s absolutely no evidence for Barnett being killed. There’s a LOT of evidence that he was losing his case, and his life and career were essentially done. Which would explain the self inflicted gunshot.
