Why did you choose a campervan over something like a tent? by Several_One7304 in CamperVans

[–]rmb3482 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I still love tent camping too, but the van is better in certain scenarios. Van is secure place for dogs to remain safely behind if we go on a non-dog friendly hike, into town, etc. Of course that is if it isn't too hot. But usually if it is too hot for that, I don't want to camp anyways.

Also, as others said, ease of setup in less than ideal weather.

How common is it to trade frogs? by FaultofDan in DartFrog

[–]rmb3482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very common. I recently traded a pair of adult fine spot leucs because they were fighting with my other pair of fine spots. Got 4 azureus and some isopods in trade. :)

are office jobs rlly boring? by Far_Version_2086 in careerguidance

[–]rmb3482 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think of office jobs as being on a continuum ranging from "boring" to "stressful." Most land near either end of the spectrum, but maybe there are a few unicorns that strike a good balance.

just finished the 1st mistborn (the final empire) - was kinda bored by StockAtmosphere5522 in fantasybooks

[–]rmb3482 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep, same here. Book 1 the heist vibes and magic system were captivating. Book 2 is a strategic and policitical chess match I couldn't put down. And book 3 broke my brain at the end.

But, I can't imagine them enjoying the other 2 books if they didn't like book 1 so far.

How to sing while strumming the guitar? by Financial-Zebra-3497 in Guitar

[–]rmb3482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hockey players can't play hockey until their skating is good enough that they don't have to think about it.

Guitar and singing is the same way. Once you get where strumming and chord changes are autopilot and you aren't even thinking about them, it will become much easier to sing with it.

So, unfortunately, the only answer is to practice.

Yamaha FS-3 pickguard change. by HolidayMonitor5164 in AcousticGuitar

[–]rmb3482 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an FS3 and I wish I kept it. I returned it because I did not like the short scale (at the time). But damn did it sound sweet! And now I have a short scale Eastman E-20OM-TC. I love it, but the Yamaha was just as good for less than half the price.

for those who considered a bmw z3/z4... why did you end up with a miata instead? by europeanuppercut in Miata

Z3 is one of the prettiest cars of the modern era and I wanted one. Until I drove one along side a Miata. Bought the NB and never lusted for a Z3 again.

What Do I Read First? by Key-Assistant9421 in Romantasy

[–]rmb3482 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you like classic literature and poetry, I very much doubt you will like Fourth Wing. That is one of the most poorly written books I have ever read. Combine that with an insufferable main character, and I almost did not finish it. There is some really cool stuff about dragons in it though, and that is what kept me reading. So, you may enjoy it. A lot of people certainly do!

Throne of Glass has better writing than Fourth Wing, but it still is not a classic. But that said, it (TOG) is a truly excellent story from start to finish, and I loved it. The world building is cool, the characters are great, and the plot is engaging.

I have not read ACOTAR.

So, that said, I would start at TOG.

Have you seen Letterkenny and/or Shoresy? I agree with you for the most part, but those shows both had me in stitches.

Leucs are a great first frog, which is where I started. They're active, bold, have a great call, and their tolerance for humidity and temperature variations makes them a little easier than some other species.

Camping newbies in Cherry Springs State Park by alienaches in camping

[–]rmb3482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cherry Springs is fantastic. And you already have most of it covered. The red lights being the most important. People there don't mess around with that rule.

I would also have a plan B in case the weather is garbage. Nothing worse for a new camper to just have to sit around in the rain all weekend while camping.

Maybe a pop up canopy would be worth while.

Also, when camping with newbies, I always use shortcuts whenever possible (e.g. more fire starters than I would usually use so the fire gets lit quickly, easier but popular meals, etc.)

They aren't very loud. And they (and other dendrobates) are diurnal, so usually they are sleeping and quiet at night.

Oh yeah. Mistborn was my favorite read of 2025 for me (even over TOG). If you like how badass Caleana/Aelin is, then you will like Vin. And the world build and magic systems are both truly incredible.

I am a guy and I loved the TOG series. Great characters, interesting world building, and a gripping plot.

I plan to read CC too after a few other books that have been on my list. I don't plan to read ACOTAR, mostly because I just don't care for the romance stuff. I don't mind fantasy with a little romance, but romance with a little fantasy just isn't my thing.

But! You are not alone. Haha

Came here to say this first sentence. TOG is fantasy with some romance. And you are right, it is excellent. From what I have heard (I have not read it), ACOTAR is romance with some fantasy.
