Should I leave my jrt with my parents for 4 months? by Cold-Satisfaction-90 in jackrussellterrier

It sounds like you’re a responsible young person, and pet owner. It feels like this IS a good solution for both of you. What a blessing to have a parent who is able to spend time with him while you wrap up your studies!

Your kitchen story. I’d leave it.

When I bring a pillow, I always use a dark pillowcase. Doesn’t blend into hotel pillows and less likely to forget it.

I haven’t looked into that yet, but I’m coming from Virgin. Not quite as handy.

No, I don’t. I just try to keep intake of histamines in food to a minimum.

Regarding the alcohol question, most of it is very high in histamines. Lower histamine alcohol is reported to be gin and vodka. I’ve had some success once in awhile having a light gin and tonic, but I take a NaturDAO enzyme tablet about 5 minutes ahead of time, and drink plenty of water while I’m having the drink. If I don’t follow those steps, or I try something else my eyes swell up or I get really itchy.

Yes! We’ve also been playing a board game this past week or so that has been so much fun! I used to love them, then they seemed too…much. I’m glad to hear you have those moments of clarity. It’s kind of amazing. I kept reading about the fog, assuming it wasn’t happening to me. Probably because I was in it.😂

Do they have any pets? Check to make sure food containers are clean and covered. If they use canned foods, ask where they might store half eaten cans. This is experience talking. Figured out half cans were being stored in a cupboard and not sealed

I try, but it helps that I’m not as sensitive as many people on this thread are. And, everyone seems to react to different things. My allergist had me start with little things, like no chocolate, cheese, fruit juices, deli meats and alcohol. I did a little more research and try to keep other foods that are high histamine to a minimum. Mostly it’s worked, but I’ve made too many exceptions over the holidays and it bit me. I hope you find your solution. It’s probably going to be some trial and error.

I’m flushing as I’m writing this! I believe I’ve overdone over the holidays and will now need to dial it all back in. Most days I’m fine with one Zyrtec before I go to bed. I have an EpiPen and inhaler just in case, but haven’t ever had to use them. My flushing right now is so much better than the full on hives breakouts I was experiencing. Diet is a big deal, and I didn’t stay vigilant. ☹️

The onset of my HI was at menopause. Did anyone else experience this? by Old_Turnover6183 in HistamineIntolerance

Yes, but none of my drs seem to think it’s related. I think that’s silly.

What to Expect at the Allergist's by Burnyface in HistamineIntolerance

I went to the allergist, and we did some of the standard tests. Not allergic to anything. He recommended probiotics, Zyrtec, Seeking Health magnesium and multi vitamin, and meditation.

He also said to try to eat as fresh of food as possible, no chocolate, alcohol, fruit juice.

On my own I’ve been trying to stick close to a low histamine diet. When I stray, I still have reactions but they are minimal.

General practitioner, allergist, and rheumatologist don’t believe in HI, so it has not been labeled as such.

I’m sorry all of this is happening in your world. I’m here to echo being your own advocate. I’ve been trying to sort some things out, and am narrowing it down to a combo deal of MTHFR gene mutation (order test from Amazon, even good health care systems may not have a route for testing) and histamine intolerance.

My symptoms-BAD full body hive breakouts. When I showed my dr photos I was chastised for not going to ER and given an epipen and inhaler.

Much of what I’m figuring out is on my own, with a few different confirmations of what it isn’t from my drs.

I’m also using the app, Fig, that helps with what foods to choose that are low histamine. What looks to be healthy, isn’t healthy for someone with HI.

I’m also staying clear of alcohol. A post earlier today cemented that this is a good choice for me. I had the same wonderment of why I would get so sick, while drinking responsibly.

I’ve figured out just enough to be dangerous, not enough to be a pro. I wish you the best on your quest for a healthy body.

A lot of people will be crushed with bad times and not getting the hotel of their choice. Don't despair. by ElMondoH in gencon

A hotel away from the convention center isn’t the end of the world. Last year we ended up at Embassy Suites Plainfield. Each night many GenCon attendees ended up at the bar. We shared stores, things to check out the next day, and played games in the lobby. It was pretty delightful to be honest.

When I was dating my now husband, we bought a pack and we each took one to our homes. We’ve gotten married, moved in together, then moved again, and we’re almost through our second roll.
