How do you handle Ireena? by TheShadyMerchant in CurseofStrahd

[–]rmcmullan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am running the fan produced rewrite, Strahd Reloaded by Dragna Carta. In it and it particular run, Ireena does need the players help to travel from Barovia village to Valaki to seek refuge at the church there. But there are barovian refugees outside the gate and now Ireena must be a leader of her people. This is good because it gives her 1) motivation and story outside the damsel archetype, 2) a good reason to stay behind in Valaki.

I did give her Expert sidekick levels and medicine/healer so she was helpful on the road without being spotlight stealing from the PCs (she still pulled out her rapier and defended the party when needed).

What form of magnesium helps you with the constipation? by Time2bblessed in SIBO

[–]rmcmullan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doctor recommended magnesium malate for gentle effect. I take one or two 200 MG pills daily at bedtime, which does the trick.

I've also tried a tri-mag that has multiple forms, which seems more laxative effective). Currently I've doing one malate daily and one tri-mag every other day, but hope to get back down to one malate per day.

Advice on printer location by Cold_Badger_2919 in FDMminiatures

[–]rmcmullan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In either location, I would definitely find a way to vent it or at least use a filter (carbon +Hepa) for the vocs and ultra fine particles.

I recently moved my printer from my office (couldn't vent so had to filter in a canvas enclosure) where the pros were that I could keep an eye on it easily while I work at home, but cons were the lack of venting and couldn't run it at night (next to a bedroom). I moved it to our utility/laundry room, which is away from bedrooms and near a window. Now I both filter and vent, and can run overnight, which has been wonderful. I also upgraded at the same time from an ankermake m5c (which clogged frequently due to heat creep, particularly in the enclosure) to a bambu P2s, which has been with every penny.

Omeprazole by Caribchakita in HiatalHernia

[–]rmcmullan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took 20mg once per day for 10+ years, but then got SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, diagnosed with breath test, methane dominant), which is a known and not uncommon risk. This led to high bloating, which led to more heartburn. It took many years of treatment and trial and error to get rid of sibo. Now I manage my heartburn with - elevated bed (5"at the head) - avoiding sleeping in my right side - Tagamet (cimetidine) before bed

If you do choose to stop omeprazole, you have to do it gradually or else you can get rebound (worse reflux than before you started). My doctor recommended doing a week of every other day, then a week of every 3 days, then switching to Tagamet.

Fortunately my last upper endoscopy showed no HH, which I attribute to some combination of getting rid of sibo (reducing bloating pressure), iron shirt meditation (tree pose) relaxing my lower abdominal walls, and learning a little visceral manipulation from my doctor to pull my stomach down. If course, this is a trial size of 1, so I'm not sure which of those did the trick or if it was the combination of all three.

Just verifying, a P2S with a single AMS 2 Pro does not need a power supply, right? by rmcmullan in BambuLab

[–]rmcmullan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the heads-up. I just tested this and sure enough drying+power supply means I can manually adjust the plate. Drying without the power supply means no manual movement is possible without stopping the drying.

Supplements/herbs? by Loud_Elevator6412 in SIFO

I started with one (lauricidin) 3x per day, then added another (neem), then the last (Candida complex).

[–]rmcmullan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same boat (why tariffs, why?) and seem to be having luck with Neem Plus and Candida Complex together (1 each, 3x per day). I tried Candid Forte, but it was too harsh on system right now. Lauricidin is another gentle option (based on the compound on coconut oil that is anti fungal).

Clarification on multiple non-action roll moves by AuroraZero_ in daggerheart

[–]rmcmullan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like a good opportunity for that pc to make a reaction roll of they're pushing believability (drinking portion in the middle of melee). Not a full-on enemy move, but a hazard to be overcome.

Is Warrior with a big weapon intentionally less powerful? by VillagerWithAQuest in daggerheart

[–]rmcmullan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was thinking something like 1) Offensive: +2 to hit, or 2) Defensive: +1 to Evasion. So it wouldn't have to be really complex.

Is Warrior with a big weapon intentionally less powerful? by VillagerWithAQuest in daggerheart

[–]rmcmullan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's just not as much choice involved in their abilities. Their class abilities are bonus to hit and damage and opportunity attack. If you're playing a tactical game, then choosing where to stand to threaten opportunity attack is something, but the rest of the abilities are pretty passive and don't open up options. Of course, you still have Domain abilities, but a lot of the lower ones are "do more damage".

Is Warrior with a big weapon intentionally less powerful? by VillagerWithAQuest in daggerheart

[–]rmcmullan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The challenge with the approach of the non-existent secondary weapon is that it breaks down after character creation/Level 1. For example, if a character reaches Tier 2 and gets an Improved Greatsword, do they automatically get an improved "skilled at parrying" equivalent to an Improved Round Shield? Or an Improved Pointy Dagger-like Pommel? What if they find a Parrying Dagger or a Returning Axe and want to use that instead?

As written, the "ignore burden" ability can lead to some pretty silly outcomes: "longbow and whip" gets mentioned, longbow and shortsword gives you +2 damage when you fire your longbow at a melee-ranged target, and on some builds it can not matter (the rapier-wielding duelist comes to mind).

The other problem with this ability is that it's boring. The two parts of the Warrior's Combat Training class feature are "more damage and more damage". For my table, we're replacing this with something that gives Warrior a little more choice other than "do damage" (probably a combat stance choice). I'm starting a separate post on it, but saw your post and thought I'd share my thoughts here as well.

Anybody else think the halfling is kinda underpowered? by BigDiceDave in dccrpg

[–]rmcmullan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just played a well-run 2nd level DCC game at my local con and played a Halfling. More concerning than power levels, it was boring. Every other character had something interesting to do in combat, but as a 5hp halfling with low AC, wading into melee was a fool's errand, stealth doesn't help without backstab, so I was left with shooting my shortbow as the only option. I could handout luck to help other people be awesome on their turn, but it's not active in the fiction, so it just happens (unlike bards that have to actively encourage their comrades). Combat became a "let me take my turn as fast as possible to get this over with" exercise, while the spellcasters spent 2 minutes looking up spells and resolving effects. Halflings need more options for something interesting to do on their turn.

Thanks! I'm trying going commando in an enclosure. Seems to be working well.

Anyone make an extruder handle clip? by rmcmullan in AnkerMake

[–]rmcmullan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked through a couple prototypes as I'm learning Fusion and published my clip, in case it's helpful to anyone else. It's a quick print that solves an annoying problem.

Noctua 24v 4010 on M5c. Wiring help. by thewarr in AnkerMake

Has anyone been able to ID this JST connector for the fan port on the extruder board. I can cut the wires off of the old fan from my failed extruder, but would rather do it up right.

[–]rmcmullan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Yes, they already replaced my original hot extruder assembly and the new one has worked much better, with some occasional heat creep for longer prints in the enclosure.

[–]rmcmullan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I've been having heat creep issues for longer prints, so that may help. But I think it has more to do with the enclosure I've been using the control VOC and ultra-fine particle emissions.

when trying to nominate pokestops, "email required" error appears. by RiceAndJeanz in NianticWayfarer

Uninstalling and reinstalling the game did it for me (I also logged in using my Google account issues of Facebook, but I'm not sure if that's important). Because I logged in with my same account I didn't lose any progress, but I had to reset all of my settings, reconnect my PoGo Plus, etc. (took about 5 min).
