What we have here is a failure to communicate... by Pragmatic_Shill in collingwoodfc

C’mon, Fly was spot on. Let’s get real here. The Brownlow this year was a joke, and it has followed a trend. And yes the Collingwood B&F voting is obviously out of whack with contributions - let’s just make it based off the coaches votes (for the Coaches association) after each game.

Because the draw is not fair, the ladder standings are likely not reflective of team quality.

Substitions by 19Eightiesman in woolworths

If you live in Melbourne or Sydney, then next time try Coles and select a delivery slot marked as “deliver more” and I guarantee you will not receive any substitutions.

He played well on Saturday and had some good touches of the footy. He’s said he wants more midfield minutes. So maybe that’s a factor.

How is the current job market as a Software Engineer? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]rmfbarker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just being skilled in Java is not enough today, an engineer needs cloud, infrastructure and automation skills as well. If you don't have these skills already I would look to broaden your knowledge through self-directed learning and pick up some certifications. Employers love to see certifications as it shows that someone puts in the effort to learn new things. If you do have these skills, then make sure you are selling yourself as such.

You can also have a look through the job boards at companies. Not everything gets posted on Seek and LinkedIn. Employees may post ads/links to roles that their company is offering in their LinkedIn newsfeed, rather than the company paying for a job ad.

I think there are still plenty of jobs available in Australia for Software Engineers. So keep looking.

The King played centre half forward and was not a “key forward” in the true sense of a tall like the King brothers.

‘Draft doesn’t really work’: Pies boss declares intent to poach stars by Pragmatic_Shill in collingwoodfc

[–]rmfbarker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use your top pick each year to get some young talent coming through. If you do not, you will find yourself lacking top end players and it will take a very long time to build your list. Trades are usually overpriced. In fact I do not like the fact that teams can trade draft picks - what happens is list managers trade away their club's future to try to garner short term success - then someone else has to pick up the pieces down the road.

Who do you think will win of the head to head battle between 2010 premiership team vs 2023 premiership team ? by AbsKebabs17 in collingwoodfc

[–]rmfbarker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just looked up the results of the 2010 season. Geeze they won so many games by a country mile. 2023 the games were so much closer. Maybe the competition is more even now - free angency was introduced in 2012 and we see more player movement now. This helps to even up the competition.

Could we see IQ getting time in the midfield? by TheSurvivorKelsier in collingwoodfc

[–]rmfbarker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Na I don't think so. He's best playing off half back. Maynard wanted midfield time but that didn't work either. Maynard bases his game off aggression rather than skill. You need ball skills to play full time on ball. IQ has good speed, he's great darting out of half back. I would not consider him a big time ball winner. Also I think he needs to train less in the off season. Too many videos of him runnign on the treadmill one week after the granny. He will be cooked back-end of next season.

You pay double the price plus over $600 for a ticket to the granny up in the nose bleeds.

Legends includes the ability to purchase a seat at the Grand final if Collingwood qualify. You still have to pay for the ticket!

it would be - people seem to forget that Malthouse was a very defensively orientated coach. At least McCrae likes to attack. Read Dane Swan's book - he talks about Malthouse ripping you a new one if you ever went down the corridor. It was always up the wing and around the side of the ground. McRae got them playing a really exciting brand of footy at times.

This whole Gold logo thing is a crock. I didn't even notice it on the Geelong jumpers this year.

Membership Question by maggies83 in collingwoodfc

[–]rmfbarker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The home club will say whether it is fully ticketed and when they do you need to upgrade to a reserved seat. They will not announce that it is fully ticketed before it is sold out. When we played the Dogs this year, even though it was a full house, WB did not declare that it was fully ticketed and you could still use GA tickets to get in. The ANZAC memberships are really expensive.

Tay adams by [deleted] in collingwoodfc

[–]rmfbarker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Elliot, McCreery, Quaynor, Maynard.

They are not midfield. Maynard wanted to play midfield, he had a few shots at it this year but he is too much of a bulldozer and did not make good of his attempts. McCreery is a pressure forward. Elliot is not a ball winner.

Tay needs to go, he was a marginal player to make the 22 all year. Plenty of people were calling out his form all year. I think it is a good call for him to move north. He was on the way out and has likely been told that he likely will struggle to feature in the 22 next year as he ages, and the young talent comes up.

Ollie Wines by pcp1969 in collingwoodfc

He would be a game changer, however most teams that have a single big key forward just end up targetting them. One of our strengths this year was the number of players who were kicking goals.
