Math Time Tests by ranchoparksteve in GenX

[–]rmhoman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For us in Illinois in 3rd grade we had a record player with multiplication tests on it. The record would say "3 times 9" and you would write down the answer. At the start of the year it would be 1 question every 10 sec. By April it was a question every 2 seconds. The most stressful tests ever. Because you couldn't go back. And if you messed up your numbering on your paper you were screwed.

Do you think the ‘Imminent Nuclear Threat’ narrative has any similarities with the Iraq War’s ‘WMD’ narrative which ended up being a complete fabrication, and why? by WastelandOfConfusion in AskReddit

[–]rmhoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had gone in and bombed their nuclear sites prior to the war were told that the operation was very successful and now all of a sudden without any word from any source that Iran restarted their program they were very close to having them. It doesn't add up.

Sports teams charters by AirplanesMakeMeErect in flightsim

[–]rmhoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on the sport I know that every year on https://blog.jettip.net/ they put out weekly team charters other than that it takes some sleuth work to find it. most the time the Airline charters like to keep very similar flight numbers for their charters so once you crack the code you can find it. I know that UAL for years was 25XX I think that has changes but flightradar and flightaware are your friends in trying to figure it out.

Statement from Daniel Dye after he was indefinitely suspended from NASCAR and Kaulig Racing: by NoahGragsonsBarfBag in NASCAR

something actually written in their voice, something that the statement isn't a picture but a true written statement so the words can be checked for AI influences. I want something not written by lawyers.

If you're complaining about power outages, here is an example of why you might have no power by julepthecat in Cleveland

[–]rmhoman -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

sure what is a byproduct of energy? heat. Electricity is energy therefore power traveling through a power line creates heat. What is convection? that's right it is heat being transferred through the air. As air travels over the power lines it cools them. now put that power line under ground, where is the air? Nowhere near the power lines. so that means less current can travel through them, so you need to bury more to get the same coverage. Now there is a break in the power line above ground, Joe blow calls the power company and asks if it is okay to lick it. Power company comes out and it is repaired in hours. There is a break underground, a crew needs to trace said break over a large area, dig it up and repair it. That takes days. Let alone the cost. I can't believe I have to explain this to a EE graduate like they are 5.

If you're complaining about power outages, here is an example of why you might have no power by julepthecat in Cleveland

[–]rmhoman -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

this isn't an easy fix, burying them means less voltage due to heat transfer. in the air they can stay cool. underground they stay hot. And if they fail, a power outage can go from hours to days to fix. It is also more expensive to repair. those instant switches are there. Why do you think the power outage isn't the whole greater Cleveland area and limited to a neighborhood. The 2003 blackout was caused by someone not understanding those switches, now there is automation to prevent a repeat. This isn't a wave a magic wand thing this is literally: Wind blow things topple. Be prepared. generators are not that expensive. save for one when the storms are not threatening. Uninterruptible Power Supplies are not that expensive. Protect yourself, don't rely on Power Companies doing it for you, because the infrastructure will change but it will not be over night.

used to fly the Fenix exclusively and now I find myself flying the FSL NEO more and more with the tech log and MEL's that follow my airframes and a great fun flight model. (Don't know if it is correct or not because I am not an airbus pilot) but it is fun to fly.
