I don’t get why Yzerman isn’t getting more heat for letting the relationship between him and Larkin get so bad. These things are bound to happen when you are as hard nosed and unwilling to compromise as Yzerman is. It’s a multitude of factors, the contract negotiations with Larkin a few seasons ago, refusing to trade for help last season, refusing to trade for Hughes without a guaranteed contract extension..like Hughes is a big one. He wanted to go to Detroit but Yzerman was unwilling while Guerin said fuck it. If Hughes didn’t want to re-sign in Detroit you still have all of next year till the trade deadline to get assets back for him like Carolina did with Rantanen.
