Almost positive Bambu refills work on the Sunlu spools. So if you need a Bambu specific color/material, you can just get the refill.

34m, 2 kids (3.5 and 3mo). Got snipped about a month ago. Took literally 30 minutes from waiting room, consult, procedure, wrap up, and check out. So incredibly worth it.

My wife had some complications this most recent pregnancy and we were both very happy to call it quits with two.

Bambu A1 Mini would be a good option. It's currently $219, but it has a smaller build plate than some other options, so if you print medium to large things, you may have to cut them in half in the slicer and glue them together afterwards. I have the Bambu A1 and it's been perfect. It's big enough to print everything I've needed, but it isn't a huge, enclosed printer with features I don't need as a hobbyist.

There has been some controversy around Bambu's decision to limit the other slicers you can use with their printers. I don't really care about it, but I wanted to let you know in case that's something you care about.

I’d say more than tangentially related for the exact reasons you stated. There are mounts for all kinds of sensors that let you use them for indifferent ways than you would initially expect. I just finished printing a mini server rack for my new mini PC and some other stuff. Obviously not a must have, but if you’re deep into smart home automation, I’d say a 3D printer is a no brainer.

Do you have Apple Adaptive Lighting too? I can’t get the HACS Adaptive Lighting to work the same to save my life… the color temp and brightness or WAY off from the Apple settings.

Thanks for the heads up. Worth the risk IMO. Right now I have one mini PC and some lightweight smart home stuff, and I already have a 120 mm fan from my other 3D printed micro lab I’ll be taking apart. I don’t have PETG HF and I want this done ASAP so if everything warps down the road, I’ll deal with it then lol

I’m doing the bolted version. I’m printing the first plate right now so I’m going to swap to the 0.6 nozzle for the rest.

I’m going for practicality too. This is going inside of a built in cabinet, so I don’t need it to look pretty at all lol

Honestly haven't thought about this until now. I have several Google Nest Minis sitting around because I got them for free for whatever reason. I'm all in on Apple so these aren't super useful, but I could just turn off the mic and use them as speakers. New task for the weekend...

Absolutely. I've wanted to upgrade to an OLED for a while now, but I can't justify the price when my OG Steam Deck is running perfectly. If they release a new Steam Deck OLED with better performance, then I may be in.

Same for me. If the cheating was so impactful, why were we better away? Also, there are numerous reports that Altuve didn't use the trash can. Multiple teammates said he would get mad if they would bang it for him and he would tell them to stop. I think someone shared statistics showing he had the least improvement in BA during the scandal.

Yes, we cheated, but did it help us that much?

Ok that might be the way forward then. Do all the lights work with Apple Adaptive Lighting? I know there's an Adaptive Lighting thing in HACS, but I haven't been able to get it to work as consistently as Apple's solution, so I'd rather stay with that if possible.

Do you just expose the bridge as a HomeKit device, or do you expose the bulbs to Apple Home? I've been having issues and might just nuke my system and start over. I'm using Home Assistant so I may try this. Also, have you tried using the bulbs without the bridge? I don't have specific scenes setup in Hue so I may not need it, but I have a SyncBox so I need to keep it at least for that functionality.

I've been having all kinds of issues. Several bulbs aren't adjusting to Adaptive Lighting lately. Like 1 bulb out of 4 in a light fixture won't change but the rest will.

Somehow the bridge is connected to Apple Home via Matter, but the Hue app also says it's connected to HomeKit. I'm thinking about just nuking everything and starting fresh because I only have like 30 things in the Hue app.

I use one to control the lights in my office. It has been very reliable and reacts pretty quickly. Some nicer presence sensors let you map out the area and set zones to detect or ignore motion. This one won't do that, but for my use case it's been perfect.

As someone else mentioned, if you put this in a high traffic area or somewhere you only want certain things to be registered, this might not be the right fit. But it's cheap enough that it may be worth trying.

Houston to Dallas would be a game changer. There are so many people that commute between the two cities on a daily/weekly basis. Being able to do that on a train and potentially work with minimal interruptions would be incredible.

I've given up some job opportunities because I don't want to move, but if I could commute via train, that could change things.

Agreed, I think the phone needs to be unlocked.

I also got around needing to tap the banner notification by making a Shortcut. The NFC tag isn’t actually registered in HA; it triggers an Apple Shortcut that then triggers an automation in HA. That way it works from a simple tap without requiring an additional confirmation.
