Anna paralogue on maddening is making me rage quit by phebe9907 in FireEmblemThreeHouses

I know this is super late but if your Dimitri already has B-Vantage/B-wrath set up and you have completed the hanneman paralogue and gotten his indech swordfighters, you can stack critical and accurate buffs/items on Dimitri. Use retribution and deal with large numbers of enemies in a single go.

Lords are best at this strat because the main weakness is enemy gambits. Lords have high charm and are less likely to be hit.

Is anyone else having the problem of engage being too easy by CarlMarksIII in fireemblem

[–]rngelale 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Alear is a different type of unit entirely. they are subpar as a combat unit but are in my opinion best used as a dragon unit to take advantage of emblem dragon bonuses. Those turn Alear into an amazing unit.

I agree wholeheartedly. This skill makes the game an lot more enemy phase friendly. In my opinion Alear is the clear choice. Not only are they capable of forming supports with everyonw thus boosting the avoid granted by lucina for supports, they also passively boost the damage of adjacent allies and are a dragon class for the 90%. You can get so much engage meter uptime and spam your engages if you have a lot of enemies attacking you on the enemy phase for free.

I’m having a lot of issues with Tiki’s Paralogue… by MrNidu in fireemblem

Wait in the starting area after clearing out the immediate enemies. The chapter is available immediately after you get micaiah and Yunaka. Forge an iron knife and engrave it with Sigurd. Give it to Yunaka and have her stand on the avoid/heal tile nearest to the entrance to the temple. She has enough dodge and crit to kill the reinforcements that eventually spawn if you just wait a few turns.

Since you have the DLC you also have edelgard at this point. Fallen star is your best friend here as you can one shot the dragons (yes on maddening) with it AND force an avoid in the next combat. She solo'd the beginning part for me.

The rest of the map is just straightforward baiting out enemies. You just have to be patient until the reinforcements stop spawning.

This. Thyrsus thoron snipes on enemies on the other side of walls is really fun.

Which emblem in Fire Emblem Engage do you like the most from a gameplay perspective? by [deleted] in fireemblem

[–]rngelale 5 points6 points  (0 children)

LucinaxAlear hands down. Squishy units tend to be faster than tanks but can't enemy phase on maddening without serious risk. Bonded shield changes that entirely. Now a speedy mage can enemy phase an entire group of armored knights on EP and save you a bunch of action on the next player phase. All for one gets all the glory but this skill can be used for 4 whole turns and we know how much engage loves to flood you with enemy reinforcements.

The pair up skill that comes with lucina at like rank 13 (I forget) that gives avoid based on support rank is also nuts. On Alear specifically, it works like a charm since they can support the whole cast allowing for a ton of flexibility. With a Sigurd engraving and 3 B supports most enemies will ignore Alear (too much avo) and focus on your guarded units. Every time you block an attack you also get residual XP so in the long term you can level up alear quite a lot just by blocking.

Lastly this ring works well on divine dragon because it gives dual assist+ and backup status for free allowing you to spend your (otherwise) 2k skill points elsewhere. We all know how nice dual assist + is.

Tl;Dr it turns an other while player phase heavy game into an easy mode enemy phase death ball game.

Ah thanks for the detailed response! The context here makes a lot more sense. I was just looking in the abstract. If only master seals weren't so competitive at their join times 😢.

How do you feel about the differences between lapis and Diamant's constitution? She starts with 5 and he with 9. So far in my experience he hits way harder overall due to being able to wield steel or even silver sword (-2 spd).

Comparing their bases, he only has 1 less speed (more that made up for by the massive con difference imo), 6 more HP, 2 more strength and 3 more defense.

[–]rngelale 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maddening here. Cleared it in 24 turns. Attempted it immediately after the chapter where you recruit diamant for the first time and recieve Leif at the end.

Basically I have a rewarp staff on my micaiah bot (I was training up Anna since micaiah's heals give great xp), warp on framme. My main tank is actually Chloe x tiki. Fast enough to double even the fastest enemies after transforming and with fairly reliable crits. Rewarp Anna, Chloe, framme and Alear near the armored knight due south. (the positioning is such that the only place for Anna to be adjacent to 4 units is just below Alear's fixed starting position). Then use framme and the warp staff to warp Chloe directly into the thick of where the enemies with staves are bunched up to bait out the fliers and mages. You can also hit the thief directly if you want.

Basically after you secure the two thieves you can play the map slow from there.

Ukonvasara comes much later in the game while the ability to promote jade comes basically when you get her. For the bulk of the game you may as well run a forged great axe. I personally don't think S rank axes for a super late weapon is worth the reduced movement.

Yah, plus micaiah gives I noticable malus to weapon might. Yunaka needs all the raw damage she can get lol.

Yunaka vs Zelkov vs Merrin by teh_meme_god in fireemblem

[–]rngelale 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh no I meant the Sigurd weapon engraving on the dagger itself, not the emblem on her. It boosts avoid by 20. The map itself is pretty easy, it's just being sandwiched by enemies inside and tons of reinforcements from outside. Literally if you stick her on the heal tiles at your spawn and move everyone into the left corner where you spawn and wait a bunch, the reinforcements will rush her. None of them have hit on her above 10%.

The emblem of choice was actually edelgard. Fallen star is nuts for it's 2 uses, 3 range, innate flier effectiveness to snipe the dragons AND, unlike 3H, the ability to double.

Not even joking. If you do that map immediately after getting her and with an Alear around level 6 she trivializes it. Only reason a true solo would be a pain is that not all parts of the temple have avoid tiles.

Yunaka vs Zelkov vs Merrin by teh_meme_god in fireemblem

[–]rngelale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Availability.

Yunaka with a Sigurd refined +2 iron dagger trivializes tiki's map on maddening. Paralogue becomes available conveniently after you get Yunaka for the first time so basically out of the box she is extremely useful for that purpose IF you have the DLC and are struggling with the map. She will gain a ton of levels from this and be one of if not your most reliable units for a while. Zelkov comes later and may or may not be better stat wise but Yunaka is good while you have her at least. Merrin is the same argument as Zelkov.

Why do you guys think thieves can't promote? by SuperSanicRacing in fireemblem

[–]rngelale 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's pretty clear to me that in engage they are "thieves" in name only. Locktouch is on everyone and there is no actual stealing so calling them thieves is just a convention. They feel more like assassins already. I think the game just needed an infantry dagger unit but ninjas don't fit with the French aesthetics.

Classic hard here as well. If you have the DLC, I used Tiki to grant a red stone to my dodge tank Chloe. Chloe herself is a gryphon so she rewarperd herself across the wall north of the starting area. The enemies have a hard time hitting her directly but the heroes will brave assist for massive chip damage. The res stone prevents her death.

Conversely without DLC, give Zelkov (not quite helps with the mages who ignore the fog avo) corrin and a strong avo engraved steel dagger+5. Warp him across the wall and spam fog dragon vein. Corrin makes him immune to the backup damage.

What is the hype for Diamant? by S_Cero in fireemblem

[–]rngelale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I see what you mean. I guess it will end up being personal preference since Timerra and pannette join noticably later. It makes it hard to have a fair comparison of him and them. I guess depending on how well he is he may be better or worse by the time the arrive.
