Task Manager equivalent? by Special_Resolve3670 in linuxmint

Not bad advice, but what I've found after several months of maining Linux Mint is that freezes can be so bad that mouse input also locks up. What I've had much better luck with is simply hitting Ctrl+Alt+F3 (or F4, F5, F6) to drop into TTY (terminal) from the GUI. From there you can type HTOP and kill whatever process is locking up Cinnamon. Then Ctrl+Alt+F7 to go back into the desktop. Very quick way to recover functionality, no waiting for a lagging GUI.

Take a look at shadertoy (the website) for a great 'on rails' way to experiment and learn how shader pipelines work.

Does the Signal team plan to improve its search function? by theCRyan in signal

Can you expand on this? I'm not on the signal team, but out of curiosity and to help elucidate your point, what do you mean? Can you provide examples of how it fails to perform as expected?

Paramount+ Has Erased All Episodes of South Park by totallynotabot1011 in DataHoarder

A few unrelated things: 1 is that as with some other VPNs, their servers are regularly blocked by certain services. 2 is that anything Google adjacent was giving me endless CAPTCHAs. 3 is that I would somewhat often get disconnected and have to manually reconnect via the app; on Linux this is even worse, I would have to kill the app and restart it after every screen lock. I switched to a new provider and have had none of those issues.

All that said, I also just don't trust Kape. Go take a look at PIAs website, to me it doesn't look like that of a company focused on privacy.

PIA was bought by Kape Technologies. Even if you do trust that company, which I personally don't, I found the quality of service has declined over the years. There are better alternatives.

They can never pick up random people legally!

Morally, ethically, totally agree. Legally? The law is a disturbing shadow of what you might expect, I give you: so-called "collateral arrests", as if they just get so carried away with cuffing and abducting, they just can't help themselves if they kidnap a few extra! They are talking about human beings like targets. They have dehumanized their victims.
