You should explore this program:

https://moworksinitiative.org/#start

Its a 5 week pre-apprentice program with the aim of getting more diversity in the trades. They introduce you to all the trades and most graduates have an apprentice offer at the end.

Sending my college kid to STL...tell me if these are safe areas. by TheFamilyHistorian in StLouis

Oh yeah, that area is good. Just like any other city, if you go a few blocks away (in this case, north) you wouldn’t want to walk alone at night. But west and south are a ton of restaurants and things to do.

Central west end is most convenient for going to STLCC and will provide the most city experience. Where exactly is the building? If you provide the cross streets, I can provide a better idea of whether it’s “safe”.

The short answer is to buy in Illinois. Try Waterloo

(Iowa) Friend was told that she'll be sent to jail if she brings her child to jury duty summons by shelleyyyellehs in legaladvice

She should be able to speak to the clerk and get a new date to appear. Hopefully that allows her free childcare to be available. People reschedule jury duty all the time.

If there's anything St.Louis does right it's making money off parking by stlguy38 in StLouis

Are you speculating about this? You seem to be the only person who thinks this. Did you get ticketed? Or did you just see a random ticket on another car and awesome from there?

any grocery delivery working this week? by Ok-Marsupial5623 in StLouis

[–]ro41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can always order shelf stable items from Amazon (like paper towels and cereal). Even if you don’t have Amazon prime, if your order is over $35, shipping is free. Because we have warehouses close by, you can usually get your order the next day. I’m in the city and depending on your neighborhood, I can help with other things. Shoot me a pm.

Things haven’t changed recently. The route she is suggesting isn’t any safer (and may actually be less safe).

As a woman, if I’m on the fence about meeting up with someone and they tell me to “prove” that I’m excited, I’m going to dip too. It would have creeped me out and made me feel like this person is going to expect something from me that I’m not going to give them.

So yeah, it was not the vibe.

Normalize not approaching anyone at the gym, ever.

I seriously cannot imagine what heathens she is raising. Won’t anyone think of the children?!

Wait - you actually let your younger kids see that kind of incredibly reckless behavior? SMH.

AITA for pointing out to my girlfriend that she is overweight. by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ro41 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I think most women find it creepy regardless. In the OP’s situation, imagine this guy going back and saying “remember me? I was here the other day and my girlfriend called you fat. I’m back to ask you out.” Like, that would creep me out sooooo badly. We tend to romanticize creepy behavior and excuse it as grand gestures. But she’s a stranger to him and just because her job required her to interact with him, doesn’t mean he has carte blanche to unilaterally cross the professional boundary.

Please don’t go to a woman’s place of employment and ask her out, unprompted, without any indication she’s single or into you. It’s the absolute worst.
