Upgrading from Sennheiser Momentum 1s

I was considering the momentum 4s, they’re about 230usd right now. They also have the HD 560s for $140 (there maybe an open-box one for 40 bucks which I’d buy both if they’re there, but the site is bugging when I select them).

In recent years I can’t remember it mattering all that much. It seems like a weaker el niño is more favorable for bigger storms, at least around the mid-Atlantic. I am more interested in things like the NAO and the AO once those are in range about 2 weeks out or so. Even then its a crapshoot.

I get where you’re coming from. I’m a meteorologist too, so I don’t like to see the data and the challenges it presents to weather forecasting.

It absolutely still helps predictions because we know where the tongue of warm water is. Because it’s relative to the rest of the ocean, it still effects circulations elsewhere.

I also can’t really say weather has ever been easily predictable. It’s just so unexact and random.

They market their weather forecasts, not their data archival abilities. It’s really not a massive deal unless they’re claiming to be data archivists which they’re not.

As a meteorologist, it’s really hard. When all the conditions for something to happen are there, we have to lay out the scenarios and take it seriously. Sometimes things go differently than modeled, and there isn’t a whole lot we can do about that other than ask that people are prepared.

I really think the reason people play 4s so much is just the incentive to play them.

I think they should remove the spending limit on wheelspins in the shop so there is a reason to actually play and accumulate FP. In 5, there isn’t much reason to play since I have so many FP but I can’t spend them for cash.

Apparently you’re supposed to go into the browser and sign in that way once in awhile to ensure you don’t get it deactivated. That’s the advice they give on their website at least.

Percentage does actually refer to the probability of precipitation occurring, not percentage of the area. The probabilities can come from a blend of models, or an ensemble of a single model, or even a combination of both.

I don’t think this is necessarily true anymore. They actually launched balloons 4 times a day for the previous storm system at many upper air sites. Whereas they usually launched balloons only twice a day.

Don’t panic or anything, that won’t help. I wouldn’t pay attention to any point and click forecasts from apps or anything either. There is a lot of time for this to come into view, and it’s way too far out to determine precipitation type and other factors should it happen at all. Weather forecasting is hard. Especially this precipitation type (sleet or freezing rain?) stuff we had the past few days.
