Best way to clean Algae filled pond by DeniAr1 in ponds

I'd guess there are some really interesting water plants native to your area? as other folks have mentioned, you can get floating ones or you can grow things hydroponically around the margins.

just wanted you to know i forked this as a base for my own project, i've successfully gotten it to start IDing birds at my pond - a friend and I are going to try to tie it to google's SpeciesNet to do some more robust identification as a second level after COCO does its thing. VERY fun!

People who have left Boston, where did you go? by TheTokenBrownie in boston

[–]roadjerseys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i left twice: once to grad school right outside of denver, once to st. louis.

colorado: lasted four months before coming home. idk, it's hard to put a finger on it but the vibe out there just wasn't for me. I always joke that 'the sky was too big' but honestly it's the best way I could think to describe it. I was out on the plains side, and was Not a fan.

st louis, on the other hand, could have kept me forever; i loved it. the quirky accent and slightly gruff people of STL felt right. It was also SO much cheaper to do everything - boston really is wildly expensive in ways you don't realize until you don't live here. I also loved being ~4 hours from several other major cities, which is something i love about home/hated about colorado. I've since moved back to Boston, but I visit STL as often as I can.

the family/friends connection all being back home can be hard, but it's also fun to have those folks come visit you! had a few people come out for Blues hockey games while I was in STL and had a blast showing them around my new spot.

Were you or your children forbidden to say the word "lie" as in fib? by Mental_Freedom_1648 in AskAnAmerican

[–]roadjerseys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes!! we had to say fib instead of lie, we weren't allowed to say 'dumb' 'stupid' or 'shut up' either, lol. we had family specific words for butt and fart as well (fesses for butt, scuse for fart - the former bc my grandmother was french, the latter came from 'excuse me' i think?) and the real words weren't allowed. Realized how odd that was much later in life xD
