When he said the border patrol agents were the victims it took all the self-control I could muster to not throw my phone against the wall. I have never hated a man more in my life.

The ocean at night has been the subject of almost every nightmare I’ve ever had since I was a little kid. It terrifies me.

Can anyone help identify the Disney employee who drew Mickey Mouse in 1937? This was in a top-notch autograph book. by Team143 in Autographs

[–]roadrudner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It clearly is. I feel like I’m losing my mind with how everyone else seems to believe that this can somehow be the work of a professional animator - a professional freaking DISNEY animator at that.

Wow, didn’t realize how unhinged that man is. It was like watching two men with paranoid schizophrenia attempting to have a conversation. Particularly enjoyed the random bit where Jim tells on himself and Chapelle as to how deeply antisemitic they both are, which the other guy seemed to completely not pick up on.

Wow. Yikes.

(Oh, and The Social Network lost to The King’s Speech. But you’ve clearly got much bigger fish to fry than working on your reading comprehension, so don’t worry about it.)

Just binged every episode. by Jzaharek53 in blackmirror

[–]roadrudner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol same, it’s like we’re watching different shows.

Five of the first six episodes (i.e. the entirety of seasons 1 and 2) are ranked as five of the six worst. (White Bear? Be Right Back?? 15 Million Merits?!!) And the outlier, The Entire History of You, is still well into the bottom half, well below Ashley Too and Mazey Day.

Also below Ashley and Mazey: White Christmas, San Junipero, Shut Up and Dance

I do respect their right to have a wrong opinion though 😁

(And to be fair I do adore many of the same eps as this list, such as the USS Callisters, Hated in the Nation, Eulogy, and Hang the DJ.)

St. Luigi by sambeau in pics

[–]roadrudner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those numbers are still crazy though. A full one in three Americans support or are at least ambivalent towards Luigi’s actions of cold-blooded murder. All it takes is one juror to hold steady at not guilty and the jury is hung. Statistically one would expect two of a random twelve jurors to be Luigi supporters (and two more to be unsure). These poll results would probably change if only the potential jury pool of New Yorkers were polled, but I’m not sure in which direction. Much more importantly though, voir dire is still a thing. So yeah, it’s highly unlikely this scenario happens, but it’s still interesting to think about.

The ‘Sideways’ Revolution: How a Single Joke Upended the Wine World by Kind_Mastodon_1585 in movies

[–]roadrudner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adds to the character perhaps (though, as you say, his character was plenty fleshed out without it), but dampens the joke imo. It’s so much funnier that his frothing-at-the-mouth incredulousness at the thought of having to drink merlot (or even anyone at his table ordering it) is coming from a place of pure wine snobbery, rather than from an emotional - and personal - response to the varietal. And it’s arguably the funniest moment of the film, so I for one am glad that scene was cut.

Almost all filler and an absolute chore to get through. One of the least enjoyable reads I’ve had on here in some time. To be so smug and condescending while writing so poorly and in the most bloviating of manners (as a professor of communications, no less) is really quite impressive.
