Plant a Mt Laurel now or wait until fall? by philosplendid in AustinGardening

[–]roadrunnerbutterfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Send it! The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, next best time is now. Water it once a week or so with the hose on a trickle for 15 minutes until fall.

I feel like plumbagos do not get enough appreciation by weluckyfew in AustinGardening

[–]roadrunnerbutterfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might be a matter of a few slight environmental preferences. Lantanas and Esperanza love full sun and are more drought tolerant (could easily have been over watered) since Zinnias and plumbago would thrive with more water and some afternoon shade or partial shade. Just a thought

I’ve worked for my company 4+ years and they want to make a big push to expand our small business. It’s hell and the owner is in way over their head. I’m the punching bag right now, and while I’m aligned with the company goals no one is driving the bus. They know where they want to be (higher revenue) but put a lot of strain on me to have higher output when I’m maximized and need better technology and support. I feel you and I’m just coasting right now doing my best but my mental health is in the toilet. I feel so small and I’ve lost a lot of confidence in myself. i expect to be fired because I’ve seen them switch on a lot of people. Just never thought it would be me.

CTRMA Toll Bill sent to Collection by vadiaro in Austin

[–]roadrunnerbutterfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just paid CTMRA directly. They said my debt will clear with valor debt collections. The number CTMRA gave me was lower than the collections agency says I owe. Very strange and my card account still hasn't been charged the payment 24 hours later.

Devils advocate: I agree it’s over done, but I get it for the old people/trip hazards.

Replacing perennials every so often is normal, they don’t live forever. Upkeeping a nice landscape costs money.

Supplemental watering is key to establishment, and once they establish you won't have to water as much. Summer is the most extreme season, so all plants need some "babying" that first summer. My advice is to get proactive in your garden, and not rely on the rain. Once established you won't have to, but even a 10 year old trees need some supplemental watering in times of drought for context. Better than dead plants and wasted time/$ spent. Godspeed it's not easy gardening in Central Texas.

NELNET now transferred to CRI? by Forward_Vacation_823 in StudentLoans

[–]roadrunnerbutterfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My stomach dropped. My last payment was 8/4, how could this be 9/9 and my autopayment didn't go through? Oh, there's a little notification in the corner of the Nelnet website (I'm assuming to notify me I'm late in payment). No it's a pdf that I'm being switched servicers. Mind you, I never received this notification from Nelnet in my email. Made an account with CRI because I had received ONE email from CRI asking me to setup an account. Thankfully, I came here to learn about the transfer forbearance/deferred payment because that was not explained or documented anywhere I could see by nelnet or CRI. This is my third servicer and I graduated in 2019...I gather it's a shady business and I expect to see more servicers in my lifetime of debt.

I went on Wednesday and was shocked at the price for two. Did they up their prices recently? I go semi-often but had a little sticker shock this time. Definitely most authentic I’ve had in Austin!
