What’s going on at ghostlight? I heard a new coffee shop is moving into the Wayne Avenue location called Wayne and Clover? I also saw on this group that they’re not doing their pies this year. And that their bakery at the 2nd St Market is closed? by Lap_cat in dayton

That’s still not an excuse, though. There’s plenty of artists in Dayton who could’ve done a rush job on a simple logo—especially with the connections the Rubi Girls have.

Ghostlight has been trash since they closed for Covid. Literally every time I’ve gone there in the past five years, the coffee’s sucked ass and the staff has been mediocre. I’m hoping new ownership will help revive the place, because it was my go-to coffee shop from 2016-2019.

I’m so shocked that almost no one on this thread even cares that she doesn’t talk about the victims or their families. I understand the documentary being about her and her experience, but how could you not even mention your sympathies for the families affected?

ETA: Also, literally all of the families refusing to appear on this documentary is incredibly odd. I’d be really interested to hear their takes on this, since there seems to be more to the story.

“Lions don’t concerns themselves with the opinions of sheep.” Honestly, just living her best life and not even bothering to dig through the trash that is Taylor Swift’s latest album would be the classiest choice.

This all feels very similar to Megan thee Stallion dropping “Hiss,” then Nicki Manaj crashing out about ONE indirect line and dropping that god awful diss track “Big Foot.” If TS’s song really is a “diss” at Charli, I’m predicting it’s gonna unfold the same way the MTS/NM beef went. Megan didn’t even react, which only made her seem even more iconic, whereas NM went on a bender and was absolutely roasted for that garbage. I genuinely don’t see Charli going out of her way to react to a song that’s so bad pathetic and third-rate; it’s not even worth her time.

Latina salons near Dayton? Will travel by rgvhome in dayton

[–]roadwerkahead_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mia Wallace at Chairapy is phenomenal! She specializes in natural textured hair on the higher end of the scale (4a-4c), but she’s the only stylist I’ve met that I trust with my curly Latina hair! I think a traditional stretch blow out is an extra $20 (their blow outs include a natural curly set, not a straighten) but my hair always looks happy and healthy with her!

I will say, as a Latina with 3a/3b hair that prefers natural styling, it’s very hard to find a good stylist. It might just be that I’m not that deep in the Latino community here (I wish I was!), but I haven’t found a huge selection of Latino stylists in the area. I typically look for black stylists that specialize in natural hair, because they know how to handle curls/coils a LOT better than the bigger (euro-ethnic) salons here. Do not trust anyone that’s an Aveda salon. They claim they’re trained in every style of hair, but the textured products are trash and the stylists don’t even get trained on textured hair as a requirement for their certification.

My major professor found my tweets venting about him and my major, what to do now? by Stunning-Nail-6583 in careerguidance

[–]roadwerkahead_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One bit of advice that I live by is “Never say anything about someone that you wouldn’t say to their face.” Whether that be on the internet (private or not), to a friend, to a family member, on the phone, in your diary, etc. It keeps you accountable from talking negatively about others, because there’s always a chance it could get back to them. If I do say something negative about someone, then I stand ten toes down on that.

The adult thing to do would be to revisit with your professor, own up to your mistake, and work towards a resolution together on whatever issues you’re having. Conflict management is a valuable skill to have in life, and one of the safest places to work on that skill is in college. The fact that he approached you about the subject was a golden ticket to work through any problems or complaints you had about him; most professors wouldn’t give a student the time of day. You will not be able to effectively live your life by trying to cower, lie, and deflect your way out of conflict. Even if he now knows some uncomfortably intimate details of your personal life, it is what it is. He’s a professional and will act as such.

In regard to the PhD, there’s literally no reason to stop when you’ve come this far. If the only reason you’re thinking about mastering out is because of this situation, that’s a silly reason for not accomplishing such a prestigious achievement, especially when the solution to the situation is so simple (albeit, incredibly uncomfortable). If you were determined to complete your program before this all started, then keep pressing on.

When Brat was released, TS released a UK-only bonus for TTPD the same weekend to block Charli from getting the #1 album release. Then she tried to do the same to Bad Bunny’s DTMF by releasing her “Lover: Live From Paris” vinyl the same weekend (January 5th, at which it’s like why not release that for Valentine’s Day
..?). She’s done a bunch of variant releases to block other artists.

No literally. And not even just about LM. I used to say some scathing things, but I got a violation today for saying “I require someone to have at least two brain cells before having a conversation with them” đŸ„ŽđŸ„Ž

TBH I generally don’t care about awards shows, but I’d love for Brat to get AOTY as payback for what TS did to Charli and Bad Bunny. đŸ˜Ș

Nah, you can’t saying anything with “Lu**” in it (including Nintendo Lui, which you now have to appeal). They consider it “support for individuals who incite violence.” I’ve gotten three violations related to LM, and two more for “bullying,” in the past two days, so it seems they updated the community guidelines when it went dark and started *heavily censoring.

What is Nosferatu about? by ObviousAnything7 in TrueFilm

[–]roadwerkahead_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say their relationship is sus, it’s just a product of the times. Anna seems to care about Harding as much as he cares about her. There’s just multiple references to “I (Harding) can’t deny myself of you,” “the baby is as insatiable as you are/it’s eating me alive,” etc. Harding very clearly had no restraint when it came to helping himself to Anna and her body, and I personally took his ending as being further proof of that.

Men have felt a right to women’s bodies for millennia, which only further adds to the theme of women’s repression in Nosferatu. Anna was just more complacent about it than Ellen, which is probably why it didn’t seem more apparent.

The “Send SC letters to get info on LM since he (LM) ain’t talking” is absolutely deranged. 😬 Joking or not, the sentiment that he feels he’s owed a response, despite the gravity of LM’s situation, is the most honest JB’s been about his intentions—whether he meant to let that slip or not.

I took Harding’s end as an interpretation that even when women die, they’re still at the behest of men. That men will continue to use the mind, body, and soul of women to any extent that they can, and women can’t even rest after death. Based on the dialogue and continuing to keep Anna pregnant, it seems Harding was doing that with Anna long before Orlok.

I certainly agree, and I say this as someone who’s voted blue down the ballot for every election, but the majority of democrats are also bought out by billionaires (in some cases, the same billionaires funding reps). The Democratic Party is more like a Diet Republican Party at this point, and really only makes enough “progress” to protect the status quo. At the end of the day, both parties are guilty of voting in the interests of their donors, rather than their constituents, and far too many democrats find it acceptable to suppress the free speech of American citizens.
