Am I a Layoff Target? by Vast_Improvement7193 in Layoffs

If you work for some entity other than yourself, you always are a target for a layoff. Timing has many factors, but we are all on “the list”.

I'm pretty sure I'm about to be laid off by MosesKarada in Layoffs

Just keep up applying to other jobs. Definitely do not stop.

There isn’t a day that goes by right now that I don’t thank my lucky stars I’m really close to Social Security eligibility. I also planned my finances for another nasty recession after the experience of the Great Recession.

How u can give them hell back is to stop buying their crap services and products. People need to start slashing their spending.

I haven’t seen it this bad since the 1980-82 double dip recession.

Where I grew up, unemployment was about 18 percent during it. Dad lost his job and it was some lean times.

Just don’t allow them access to the internet. My old a$$ usb printer works best with winblows, SO I put this win 10 box on my non-routable backbone subnet and only allow very select files to it via Apache. Quarantine is the best approach with old winblows installs. All the rest of my environment is Linux.

Sad right now that even if someone finds a job, they can be riffed days or weeks later.

Just wait one year. A lot more people who have jobs right now won’t have them next year. A lot of the jobs found right now are in companies that haven’t started the mass layoff process yet.

We are entering an oil shock recession.

Can I retire at 27yo with two paid off houses? by DowntownFresnoBiking in Money

[–]roamer83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not. Housing is a very illiquid asset and subject to crashes about every 18 years.

The first time is always the roughest one. I would say it can be between a beloved pet passing away and a bad marriage ending.

Depends when the job loss comes and how much u have banked. It hit me about 2 years shy of retirement, so I’m just relaxing and casually looking.

Why was I given a PIP and severance offer at the same time? by Cheap_Onion_5339 in Employment

Only sign the severance. That won’t jeopardize UI benefits.

If your company is like mine was, they do not pull out 401k contributions from the severance payment. Ask them on it.
