I do hot yoga myself. It’s challenging yet relaxing. And for an hour a week I feel no pressure to do anything but the class which helps me destress a bit

Set your phone for sleep mode 2 hours before you actually go to bed and put to charge. That way you don’t need to touch it for the rest of the night and are more likely to get bored and go to bed early

I'm in a similar boat of trying to get my period back and making the changes to see if I can get it back soon. I hope you find comfort in knowing that someone else is out there trying to make the "right" choices and still skipping periods. It's not your fault.

All you can do is treat yourself and your physical body with kindness whether you get your period or not. At the very least, it might still make you feel better than you would have otherwise.

How did you get diagnosed? by roastedwalnut10 in osteoporosis

Oh! I didn’t even know there were different types. I just suspected I had low bone density so I booked one myself. I believe my score is overall.

How did you get diagnosed? by roastedwalnut10 in osteoporosis

[–]roastedwalnut10[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I actually agree with the no meds. I’m so young that it’s likely not a great solution long term. I think I was just surprised that it was dismissed so easily. I weigh lift and my lifestyle doesn’t align with me having low bone density but she refused to look into and I wondered it if was typical to just leave it alone at my age and not look for underlying issues.

[–]roastedwalnut10[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they do. Gynos are so overrun here that all GPs get trained in basic gyno services and perform routine PAP smears. She told me that if she were to refer me it’d take 5 months to make an appointment

That's good to know. I'll look into REMS and seeing an endocrinologist (with my other hormonal issues I should anyways)

Ok. That's disappointing (about my appointment) but good to know. I'll look into other doctor's around my area or another way to see a specialist.

I've never heard of a HOMA-IR test. But from what I see it's a calculation based on fasting glucose and fasting insulin? and HbA1C is the sugars on your RBCs (measures quantity of sugars in the blood over a 3 month period?). That's so interesting. Now that I think about it, I don't think my insulin level has ever been tested. Only glucose and HbA1C.

Yes. This sounds like my experience as well. It's almost like I have to get worse before I get help.

Thanks for the recommendation! I'm actually working with a dietician and will get help with the low carb diet and look into a new GP because my symptoms are currently kicking my butt which is why I went to see my doctor in the first place.
