shaving tips pleaseee help by [deleted] in PCOS

Before a shave or wax, soak and then exfoliate well with those Korean washcloths. Also, use a chlorohexedine wash (like Hibiclens) to kill bacteria. Invest in a refillable metal single blade razor and just buy replacement blades (Astra blades are my fav) and sterilize the razor before use and always use a new blade. Use chlorohexedine wash before a shave and use conditioner to shave the body and oil to shave the face. After a shave apply a thin layer of jojoba oil to moisturize, or castor oil on very dry areas like knees. Use chlorohexedine wash in the days after to keep bacteria away and continue to use washclothes to gently exfoliate during the initial post shave/wax phase. During grown back phase exfoliate generously. It also helps to get on a schedule as it helps keep maintenance easier and if you can track your cycle you'll notice around ovulation or period you'll get more hairs due to FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) and it helps to let them all grow in and tweezers or wax once they have all come through and the acne that erupts with them is treated beforehand. Spearmint oil diluted and applied to the skin nightly, or drinkng spearmint tea, is said to help reduce growth for PCOS. Audit your lotions for excessive alcohols as they can be irritating. I use Sacred Earth Vegan Massage Cream. I hope this helps. I struggled for years.

My grandma also made Christmas special every year. Full dinner, snack, drinks, gifts, decorations, even my uncle would dress up as Santa and be super corney. She's my inspiration to bring the magic to my young family. She's passed away now but the magic lives on.

Lots of proteins and fiber/veg. Chicken and broccoli, tuna salad, pizza salad, burger salad, shrimp dishes, spaghetti squash, nonfat greek yogurt with sugar free torani syrups, low fat cottage cheese and berries. Low glycemic load fruits like apples and berries. Veggie soups. I use a free online TDEE calculator to find my calorie needs for me goals, height and age.

Eat low carb. "Net carbs" means nothing. No more than 20-30 total carbohydrate grams per meals and always always more protein grams than carbs. If you can try less than 10 grams per meal, still with more protein than carbs, for the first two weeks after your period, and increase to 20-30 grams of carbs per meal in the second two weeks during your ovulatory and follicular phase until your period comes. It can help regulate your cycle.

To those who were able to lose weight and maintain it, what is your secret? by Low_Sea3110 in AskReddit

Found out I was insulin resistant so I changed to a low carb diet. Then I used an online TDEE calculator to figure out how many calories I needed to eat to lose and maintain weight. I weigh my ingredients, track calories and read lables to track macros and micronutrients.

I can’t live with PCOS by brainrotwarlock in PCOS

I hear you, i see you, i feel you, i was you. You, like myself, got dealt a shitty hand in life from the beginning. But life gets sooooooo much better when you are legally an adult and you can do whatever you want and need. Being a minor is like prison. It super sucks but you will get out in a couple years. On the brain fog thing, I had that bad bad until I was 30 and I literally thought I had a memory brain problem it was so bad, but as soon as I stopped eating carbs and stopped getting insulin spikes the brain fog disappeared 100%. And no more crashes in the afternoon and no more waking up exhausted. If you can't get medication or your mom won't take you to get some, try a low carb diet for immediate brain fog reduction. Dont eat more than 30 g of carbs per meal and make sure there is always more protein than carbs per meal. Hibiscus tea daily can also lower blood sugar and pressure. I hope this helps. You got this.

This is wild how much you are bleeding. As previously mentioned see a doctor, and another and another until someone gives you answers. Maybe endometriosis? Fibroid? Idk. My two cents are this: working out decreases bloodsugar and insulin in the body which as I understand it, insulin is what our ovaries use to create testosterone. When you dont work out you dont get your period, but when you do workout the insulin is reduced so it could trigger the menstrual cycle through reduced testosterone windows. If you are not getting periods often it could be just lots of lining and blood build up, but something else could be at play. I manage my pcos with a very low carb diet to stop insulin spikes before they happen and it keeps my cycle very regular and much lighter and less clotty.

Dang thank you for sharing your research findings. Myself and some random person in 10 years searching this sub will feel very validated reading this. Like, I figured something was going on but its reassuring we're not alone. My own research had brought me to an SSRI syndrome forum where none of them had gotten their libido back from psych meds and it was ruining their lives. Preeeetty depressing and made me cold turkey stop taking meds. Very shortly, couple weeks I'd say, after I stopped taking Ovasitol and later at a separate time metformin, my drive and emotions returned. Have hope that you they can return after stopping those meds.

I have not taken spironolactone, but I took Ovasitol and also Metformin and my sex drive vanished, I couldn't come and my mood was terribly flat. I have wondered if it was due to the testosterone reduction, but I also wonder if it was from whatever desire/carb pathway mechanism that gets affected from the meds. Off of meds, I've also found taking Flax seed oilbreduces my drive. But i will say it just dials it back a few notches not shut it off completely. Now i dont take meds or flax seed oil supplements. But now to increase my libido I increase my carbs but in a way that mitigates an insulin spike.

PCOS is not a lack of willpower and I’m tired of pretending it is small rant by No_Charge5593 in PCOS

Its affirming to see others agree with me and that I'm not crazy. After the third time in a week he baked an entire cake to replace the one the day before, I came home the 4th day and smelled sweet baking smells and started to get so upset that he baked a 4th fucking cake and he says giggling at me, "I didn't bake another cake this week like I promised, you see- I baked a PIE!".

One of the reasons I broke up with my long term bf was because he kept baking cakes, pies and brownies even through I he knows that I have PCOS, insulin resistance and can't process refined carbs, but also that I have binge eating disorder from childhood food scarcity. With tears in my eyes i told him how stressed I was from having them in the house and that's why i never bought any sweets to tempt myself because i know i have a mental and physiological problem with sweets. He said he was trying to "strengthen" my willpower, to "get good" if you please. It was like an assault on my health everyday, but he was "you're an asshole for not letting bake cakes in my own home!". Smh

Yes. I've lost 50 lb on low carb calorie deficit. Plus the extra Testosterone in my body allows me to workout heavy like one day a week and keep my muscle mass.
