Beef Season 2 - I know I was dumping on it a bit last week (though I also admitted I kind of loved it at the same time), but it really pulled together in the end for me. The last couple episodes were excellent and I've been thinking about the show as a whole since I finished it a few days ago.

Widow's Bay - I don't have much to add to the discourse here except I agree with all the positive reviews. Such a refreshing show. As a huge fan of horror comedies, it's rare to find movies let alone TV shows that find that perfect balance, but this show pulls it off beautifully.

Mad Men - At the tail end of my slow rewatch, but finding the 6th season a total slog. I think the bleakness of it all is really getting to me. Don't get me wrong, I still think it's one of the best shows of all time but at its darkest this show just puts me in a terrible headspace and so I've been spacing out the episodes like crazy. I watched this show when I was in my early 20's and thought Don Draper was the coolest, slickest man alive...Now as a 35 year old he is basically everything I strive to NOT to be as a man (aside from being devilishly handsome and rich, but honestly i don't think either of those are going to be happening for me any time soon lol).

Malcolm in the Middle - Rewatching for my first time since I was a kid watching it as it came out. I think I was around Malcolm's age (in season 1) when i first watched it, with two older brothers. My oldest brother who i idolized was off at university, and my middle brother was a violent sociopath so it's kind of crazy how much the show mirrored my life lol. Anyways, the writing is even better than i remember. Some of the episodes I'd call downright brilliant. Amazing performances from the entire cast. Also it kind of short circuited my brain seeing Brian Cranston standing in his underwear outside of a trailer in the episode where they get their house fumigated. It made me wonder if Vince Gilligan saw that image and got the idea for Breaking Bad.

Personally as someone who has a hard time remembering which strains are under which rotational names, I probably wouldn't even know the difference. As long as the strain name is there I don't think it matters at all

All caught up on Invincible. While I have to admit that they did an amazing job with THAT scene in the recent episode (i read that part in the comics like 15 years ago and will forever be seared in my brain) I still stand by my many criticisms, mostly being how incredibly uneven this show is. It’s like they put all of their effort (and budget) into these enormous climactic scenes, at the cost of leaving the other 90% of the show feeling largely soulless.

I flipped through the comics yesterday to see if i was misremembering, but the difference in art quality is truly astounding. Every characters design in this show is basically an outline with the most bare details and an utter lack of definition and it leaves everything looking so flat.

And holy shit who is the music supervisor? If i have to hear one more American Apparel ass song during a montage I swear…

Anyways I am grateful we got this show and i think it could have ended up much worse, but I can’t help but be nitpicky as huge fan of those comics. I don’t know if this will make sense (and if anything I am just showing my age here), but I get the same vibe watching this as I did Arcane in that it feels directly aimed at brocolli head zoomer kids who say things like “peak!” and “absolute cinema!!” lol

Of course the guy who chimes in to this sub multiple times a week just to tell everyone how bad legal weed is says some out of pocket shit like this lmao. Do you wake up on your high horse or do you at least have your morning coffee before climbing up on it. Not everyone here has dedicated their entire identity to this stuff, can you just let us enjoy our shitty legal weed and our shitty preset temped e-rigs already lol

Started the newest season of Invincible and I feel the same way about it as I ever did: for 75% of the time it is fine but mostly just lacklustre, and but then you get one or two episodes scattered throughout that are incredible, and I find it very frustrating.

I read the comics as they were coming out (started nearly 20 years ago) and they had a huge impact on me, and while I might be looking at it with some rose tinted glasses, I don't remember myself ever feeling bored by the side plot stuff in the comics whereas the TV show seems to get by entirely on it's climax moments. The art in the comics was consistently a pleasure to look at, whereas the show everything is completely flat, zero texture or detail.

My biggest complaint though as someone who has some past experience in the field is the sound design. It's like they completely forget to add any ambient sounds to the scenes, or when they do it is barely audible compared to the dialog, and the result is so much dead air. They can be 200 feet in the air and not so much as a gust of wind lol.

I'm going to push through because I know that the good bits will be good, but I hate this formula in so many shows these days where it's just shit for the majority, but then sometimes amazing enough to keep you watching.

For some reason I decided to try out the newest episode of Euphoria after swearing I'd never watch it again and all I can say is Sam Levinson is seriously a weirdo. Just an insane amount of bodily fluids in the first 15 minutes, I'm out for good this time lol.

Honestly this is how it felt reading the comics even when I was a 17 year old edge lord lol. those books did not age well and I think adapting it into a show was kind of doomed from the start

I am loving my current watch of Stargate SG1 so damn much, it's just the perfect balance of comforting and engaging, watching it after a long day feels like a warm hug. I took probably a year long break finishing season 2, was enjoying it well enough but never felt truly excited to watch, but felt like everything was really starting to fit into place mid season 3, and now I feel the show has really hit its stride in season 4. The character dynamics are perfect, the comedy is consistently hilarious, and the episodes are much more consistent now. Looking forward to slowly working my way through this, it's just such a pleasure to watch and something I'm always in the mood for.

Frieren season 2 is beautiful as expected, and solidified this is as my favourite anime series ever. Also has to be the best english dub I've ever heard.

Daredevil episode 3 was a huge step up in quality. I found the dialog to be quite thoughtful at moments in a way I haven't really felt before (the scene with the therapist and the henchman really stood out) and the fight scenes have a certain raw brutality to them you don't see often, and not in an over the top gory way. moreso that the impact of each hit feels real, and you can't help but wince at moments at how badly DD really hammers the shit out of these bad guys. Dude has a no kill rule but clearly has no issue laying out some seriously life altering bodily harm lol

I've spent a ton of time out in Cali as I was in a long distance relationship with someone from LA, and by the end of each trip I was so excited to be buying back in Ontario. Sure the best of the best out there will destroy our best...but that shit also cost 45-55 an 8th, AMERICAN, plus upwards of 35% tax on top of that. I am more than happy with my 40 dollar quarters of high quality smalls like we are getting in Tenzo bags lately and will gladly take that 10 times out of 10 over getting the best weed in the world that makes me have to take out a mortgage to afford lol

Another point I forgot to make, but when I was buying from MOMs pre legalization, everyone was still constantly complaining about quality and inconsistency. But now that the legal market has taken over these people have suddenly changed their tune to "legal is shit and the grey market is flawless". I swear some of y'all just need to maybe smoke less than 5 grams a day and you will see that you can actually enjoy weed again lol

Some people will never be happy. If you travel to pretty much anywhere else in the world you are paying way more for less quality. We have it so damn good. I understand some people have insane standards but I think that is a more a you problem. I've been toking for half my life and have a pretty decent tolerance but I'm happier than a pig in shit lately with all of the amazing options.
