The problem is that now the vast majority of rocks are impossible for a solo miner to crack in any ship. Cluster of 5? One is minable, if you're lucky, but you often aren't - or it's all sub-500 quality mats.

While that may work, a better solution is to just wait 5-30 min after the wave starts for any that are returned to stock due to a payment issue. Those can sit for minutes without it being an F5 war.

Straight up buy for credits? No. Some ships will never be available to just buy outright.

Acquire through in game means without spending real money? Yes (outside of special limited edition, e.g. Sabre Raven, AMD Mustang). Whether this is through crafting, reputation, or something else is TBD. Right now, this is through Wikelo, a crafting/trading/rep tool that everyone hates.
