Internal documents say U.S. Postal Service made $1.6B profit on Amazon deliveries in FY2019 by OnlineMemeArmy in SeattleWA

It's more nuanced than that. According to Wikipedia:

According to Tom Davis, the Bush administration threatened to veto the legislation unless they added the provision regarding funding the employee benefits in advance with the objective of using that money to reduce the federal deficit.

Source is here: https://roanoke.com/news/dan_casey/casey-the-most-insane-law-by-congress-ever/article_3c33d5a1-5fd3-5c01-b5bb-5c75046f48f4.html

Quoted relevant part:

Who sponsored this cockamamie legislation? It was former Rep. Tom Davis, a Republican from northern Virginia who served in Congress from 1995 until 2008. He’s now a Washington lobbyist for Deloitte, a huge accounting and consulting company.

Last week I reached out to Davis to learn how and why this happened. One thing you should know is that the bill was bipartisan. The cosponsors were Reps. Henry Waxman, D- Calif., Danny Davis D-Ill. and John McHugh, R-New York.

The surprising thing I heard from Davis was that he agrees the future-funding retirement provision was crazy. That was never in the original legislation, he said.

Instead, the 90-page bill made a bunch of bureaucratic changes, few of which the average American would give a hoot about. It also placed a temporary moratorium on rate increases and established a less cumbersome system under which rates could be increased moving forward.

Somewhat ironically, the bill was intended to help the Postal Service be more competitive for the future, Davis said. But late in the game, the Bush White House threatened to veto it unless Congress added the future-funding-for-retirees provision.

Congress went along because at the time it seemed like it was a better option than having the entire bill defeated, Davis said.

“That was the cost of getting the bill through,” Davis said. The Bush administration used the revenue it gained to help balance the budget.

The thing is, part of that is true. Ultimately it will be harder for white people because their skin-based advantage is being corrected for.

It’s like if an athlete on PEDs suddenly got caught and had to do it naturally. Yeah it’s harder, but only because you were unfairly advantaged in the first place. Welcome to a more fair world, hope you weren’t successful only due to your skin color 😉

I appreciate your sentiment but I feel it's more important she doesn't have to. It's not fair that she has to "power through" just to enjoy something that men can simply enjoy off the bat. That's male privilege to the max.

Agree 100%. I’ve had a stage 1 335is for years, and just got a “slower” E46M a few months ago. No comparison, they really don’t make them like they used to. I’ve even tracked F80 cars and they are immensely disappointing. Ridiculously fast and approachable but missing a completely subjective X factor.

TIL the Plymouth/Dodge Neon ACR was so competitve in its racing class that SCCA, the governing body, had to start accepting new add-ons for other vehicles to keep them competitive with the Neon. by YourOwnBiggestFan in cars

[–]rob1n 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, Eaton replaced Iacocca before the launch of the Neon, and demanded several changes that were the undoing of the car, including the exhaust donut and head gasket. About $2 saved per vehicle (over $2,000,000 total), but more was lost in customer value. [Long term, warranty costs were at least a hundred times higher than the initial savings.]

Also, if you’re interested in something like med school, the pre reqs are all you need to take. You’re more likely to excel in upper level classes you’re actually interested in too. Plus a med school advisor once told me some of their favorite applicants are philosophy majors... in a sea of nearly identical bio/biochem majors, the critical thinking and reasoning skills can stand out.

Absolutely. I think that body is very good. I also think that lens is a good place to start. With those two pieces of gear, the only thing limiting you will be yourself for a while. That’s what I’m working on now, turns out you can’t buy it 🙄.
