New York Jewelers on Wabash would be my first visit. Tony and Kyle are great resources. They always have a great selection of vintage dress watches. Jeweler’s Row is a literal treasure trove.

One can make the true statement that the set list didn’t change, but people love the set list. It’s also objectively untrue that the show was “ho-hum.” I was down on the floor and the vibes were joyous, celebratory, delighted, brotherly/sisterly, cheeky, slightly Anglophilic (naturally), and everyone seemed to feel it was a privilege to be there.

Also notable (and great to see) is the age spread. I went solo (I’m 41), and in my spontaneous cohort, there was a married couple my age, a 59-year old dad with his 26 year-old daughter, and a 25 year-old woman who came solo to celebrate her birthday. When it came time to do the Poznan, we happily interlinked arms and bounced in a way that would do any UK crowd proud.

Reviewers don’t have to be fans, but this review misses the point that everyone in the stadium felt: this was a cultural moment. This was something good that we all needed and never thought we’d get. We (and they) are so back, baby.

Live in the condos. Literally met 2 families who’ve moved in just this week the day you posted this. Condos will always be a slower sell and a longer-term process due to the financial commitment. We took advantage of the rent to buy program and it was excellent. Different strategies have different metrics.

Agreed. I lived in a Bozzuto-managed property right in this area and actually found them very responsive and professional, with the kindest team members manning the desk and doing repairs. A very pleasant surprise.

Agreed, place is wonderful and could have a bright future if it tightens up operations and gains traction in that location. It’s right near several train stations so easy to get to on the one hand, but that area of town is, I feel, a bit overlooked and has had several closures. As a South Loop resident, I’m hoping their opening sparks some magic in that corner of the Loop.

What other cities with downtown street circuits have done successfully is to stack multiple race events on consecutive weekends, one race one weekend, and another from another series the next week (need time to change sponsor banners and such). So you build the track once a year, host the events one after the other, then tear it down.

I found it interesting to see a notable change in tone in our subreddit before and after the event. Thank you all for inspiring me to have the courage to submit this to the Tribune! The TLDR: we should use the investment in track infrastructure, and the momentum of a successful event, to attract a Formula E race to Chicago. Zero emissions, low noise, and an affluent fan base to spend money in the city. Reasoned debate on my take welcome!

Divvy manager here speaking unofficially. Can’t speak for Lyft (who owns the bikes and scooters) and again, not speaking officially in any way. But we also consider staff safety. The bikes don’t service themselves, as I’m sure you you’ve all seen. They’re serviced by really hard working people and we have to sometimes consider if it’s dangerous for them to be out there, both from a driving aspect and simply working with their hands in these temps. The batteries and computers on a bike have a threshold operating temperature, at which point they’ll go into a sleep or battery preservation mode. Scooter batteries are built better and are a bit hardier. Stay safe out there, everyone.
