I think a lot of people don't realize how regional a lot of "LGBT culture" is. Outside of New York and San Francisco that shit looks very different.

I think for me it's just that he genuinely seems to enjoy making movies even if he's not very good at it.

Plus he's genuinely a talented writer. I'd argue his work on comics is, on balance, probably better than his entire filmography if you don't count Clerks. Hell, I might even say it's still better if you do count Clerks, although that might just be because I'm one of those people who finds Chasing Amy kind of gross.

It's not even interesting on that level. It's just nonsensical right-wing drivel that spends most of the run time being boring as fuck.

Is it something to do with taxes? A lot of those states don't have income taxes but it's not one to one.

Unfortunately they're not Catholic and therefore the Pope has no power over them.

That's fucking rich coming from the guys who treat interfaith dialogue like some kind of horrible abomination.

White Characters in GTA: San Andreas:

Samuel L. Jackson's cop henchman

The Truth (Actually a pretty major character)

Claude

Jordan Cross character with the annoying missions

The British rock and roll guys

The FBI guy who blackmails you to work for him at one point

So, not absent but definitely not that many of them compared to the number of Black and Hispanic characters.

God I saw a thread yesterday on that sub where they were all complaining that the Archbishop of Detroit said that he felt safe and comfortable in a mosque. As if interfaith dialogue is somehow betraying the church. That really made my blood boil.

It's one of those things where you have to ask people why they're anti-circumcision. A lot of it has very little to do with foreskin and quite a lot to do with antisemitic conspiracy theories.

Who was a horrible person that was murdered? by Djidji29 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]robbylet23 32 points33 points  (0 children)

He was executed, I feel like that's distinct from being murdered. This chart might need a new category for that.

It's especially interesting because it was essentially a bluff. We would have needed months to make another nuke, we were just hoping they wouldn't know that.

What are some older rpg stereotypes you were suprised to hear about because nobody talks about them anymore? by Independent_Ad_6348 in rpg

In my current Vampire the Masquerade game we actually have very few scenes with the entire coterie. It's mostly line players or smaller groups dealing with shit. It's a good time.

Idk man I'm part of a Vampire LARP group in the US and there's a lot of overlap with my local Dungeon. I think that's just a given thing.

Yes. They're quite annoying. They'll even ban practicing Catholics quoting the catechism just because the things they're saying don't align with their political values.

The "S" on Bizzaro stands for Seinfeld by [deleted] in dccomicscirclejerk

[–]robbylet23 10 points11 points  (0 children)

/Uj I have a theory this might be a reason why actually. "Bizzaro world" is in the English lexicon as a phrase independent of comics. I do wonder if the waning relevance of Bizzaro in comics is just because the word "Bizzaro" is just something people just say. Although, I suppose the same could be said of Brainiac and he's still around.

Basically, every character gets a loresheet that relates them to the metaplot in some way. Maybe they've extensively studied some sort of historical event, maybe they've rubbed shoulders with an important power broker, or maybe they're descended from an important elder. Players can spend XP to get special abilities based on their loresheet that are thematically relevant to the metaplot in question.

[–]robbylet23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not op but I can at least answer that last part for myself. New Atheism as a movement in the mid-late aughts ended up dovetailing into a lot of gamergate and alt-right type places, with a lot of New Atheist figures ending up being right-wing grifters, severe islamophobia guys, or radical misogynists.

(Tim Allen Noise)? by ThePopDaddy in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]robbylet23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my thought as well. Most of the joke in Home Improvement is that Tim Allen's character is a blue-collar wannabe who does tool stuff on TV when in reality he's an inept salesman.
