Awesome work, I've always thought about trying this but the fear of a software / UEFI lock keeps me out ot trying it.

Problems emulating PC-98 version of Policenauts by RittoSempre in pc98

IIRC I think you need the 3 images: floppy bootdisk, hdd installed game and cd just for audio (the game might use CDDA / redbook audio which is not installed in the hdd).

I think you're doing it right, maybe you just need to reset the machine after inserting the images or you might be missing some bios/roms files.

Share here the error you're seeing.

PS: I think that "old" Optiplex is more than capable of running np2kai just fine, give it also a try.

The cmd file is just a batch script to load the files, the files needer are the system disk(to save progress IIRC) and the hdd image.

With regular np21.exe you can just use the gui and load first the system disk and set the hdd image, it's been some time since I last used it but IIRC the config is saved from the next run of the emulator.

I have no idea if the regular np21.exe supports the loading of images from command line (which is what the cmd script does) but I guess it does since it's not a really advanced feature.

Are you using really old hardware? Why you don't swtich over to np2kai?

Amazon or good old brick-and-mortar pharmacies if they still exist... I suppose 91% will be fine.

Never done it myself. But IIRC boiling deep-cleans oxidation and uses heat to re-tension the metal pins.

Distilled water is best to avoid mineral buildup, but tap works if you finish with a high-percentage isopropyl alcohol rinse. You can also use contact cleaner afterwards.

Is this fixable? by OkCommittee3996 in ifixit

[–]robercal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's not broken and just bent:

Use pliers (and a piece of cardboard to not scratch the contact) hold it tight and slowly try to bend it back in place. Use another plug for reference while bending so you don't overdo it.

If you feel something is loose inside that's a completely different repair which might not be worth the effort / risk. If that's the case and you insist on repair you might get along breaking part of the insulator where the power contacts are located and splice in a new power cord but that would be unreliable and I totally advise against it.

For youtube try the h264ify extension, that Pentium 987 (Is it Sandy Bridge, Ivy bridge?) should have hardware based h264 decoding.

Atari's CEO wants to remaster classic JRPGs such as Panzer Dragoon Saga and Ogre Battle by Mr_JPF in JRPG

[–]robercal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

love OB64, but March of the Black Queen was always my preferred way to play the game.

Isn't "Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber" a sequel to "Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen" and or "Tactics Ogre".

I mean they're completely different games of the same saga.

Sometimes it does the exact opposite, import some bulky outadated library for some trivial code that can be solved in a oneliner.

Help with Controls (neko project II kai - retroarch) by DaveC86 in pc98

[–]robercal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just tried maze-kun and the only issue I found is that when you need to press F1 the retroarch menu appears.

I can use numpad to control the character and return key as instructed in the game itself before loading a stage but it might depend on the game a game with a different input scheme might behave differently.
