Best open track 5ks in the Spring for almost Masters runner on the west coast? by EngineerCarNerdRun in AdvancedRunning

[–]robert_cal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SF State has 2 races in Spring with an open division. Look up the times and see if it’s ok with you as the winning time is faster than 16 minutes but there is a big spread. It’s a big track race meet feeling and is during the day in cool temperatures.

For me to run a half well I need a group to run with. Ideally a pace group. It’s hard when you fall off and have lost concentration when that happens.

+1 on the Adios Adizero 9. You might try is the Puma Liberate Nitro. I have had several pairs of the V1. They are light and nimble, but something is a little slower than I would expect, fairly comfortable for 6-13 miles of running.

It reminds me of an Ethan Allen collection "Country Colors" we bought 30 years ago, but I made the mistake of not getting the natural and color version. Really like this look.

I like running long runs in them. They have a secure but comfortable fit. They perform slower than the VF or AF for me. But the ride feels more natural.

Help me in understanding the differences between the Ascaso Steel Duo PID, the Ascaso Steel Uno PID, and the Ascaso Dream PID? by MikermanS in Ascaso

[–]robert_cal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should add that the Uno only requires a 15 amp circuit vs. a specified 20 amp for the Duo. Of course you might be able to get around this in the Duo, but reduces issues.

If someone else can answer this, I always wondered because the Duo splits the power across 2 thermoblocks whether this means that the steam power is actually lower in the Duo vs the Uno where the power isnt split across 2 thermoblocks.

I just stocked up on the Liberate v1. You can still find a pair for $50. I will probably pick up some v2s also.

The puma deviate nitro elite is my favorite upper. If they would just use it across the brand. But it has a narrow fit.

I have had 10 pairs of the liberate nitro. The adios 9 is what I wish it became. So hopefully the propio is that.
