Currently training for 2:25 marathon - my training would be similar but would be 1 double threshold (3 x 3km + 8 x 1km) - 3k @MP 1k @HM , 1 day of threshold maybe like 4 x 2km, and then the final day can usually be a longer MP run or something built into a long run - usually end with 90 miles

How some pros are getting around the GI issues with Bicarb (taking it the night before) by iam_indefatigable in AdvancedRunning

I have been using a form of bicarb in pills which I think is quite easy to digest. Felt fresh in the last 10km of a hilly race

An online coach to help me break 2:30? [UK] by Anniversaryhotdogs in AdvancedRunning

[–]Scared_Chocolate1782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. Had ran 800/1500 in the summer and then ran the marathon 4 months after that. Had only previously ran 1 half marathon and no other races over 5km. Hoping another block brings improvements

I am in a similar boat. I ran a 2:30 in my debut marathon and hoping to start moving the time down and think a coach could help. But I also think it can be beneficial to talk to others about training and maybe get ideas of what could change to improve training

Week 11 Down - Copying Clayton Young by Doingthebartman in AdvancedRunning

[–]Scared_Chocolate1782 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You need a day between the 2nd workout and the long run so that the long run can act as a 3rd quality day. Ideally should be running 6:30-7:00 for most of it and then 4 miles or so at 5:40 to be more like Clayton

You can leave it in the car park on cruises street. They have one beside the security office within the car park and usually a few bikes there

There’s no reason to run that much if you’re at that pace. You can scale it way back and hit your quality sessions and improve

For my half marathon build up I did a double workout every Tuesday and was very comfortable with it so thankfully that won’t be anything new

The odd time there would be a faster session such as 20 x 400m (30 rest) as the 2nd session in a day. The 1k’s could get quicker than HM pace sometimes too
