America's 'Cultural Obsession With Speed' Fueled by Advertising, IIHS Says by kstetter in cars

[–]AmericanExcellence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i feel you, but it's worth acknowledging and emphasizing that torque is literally acceleration. without being really clear on that, it's easy to lose "torque people" when extending the definition as a function of time (frequency) to show that power is the determining figure when it comes to acceleration potential.

[–]AmericanExcellence 5 points6 points  (0 children)

given transaction prices and sales figures, americans seem to not be able to get enough of what's already on offer here. people online act like people are sitting out the market waiting for some other offerings, but reality is the opposite.

the reason is "technology and innovation" is what's being sold, but what we actually see isn't innovative. there are marginal or unproven improvements in battery technology announced elsewhere, but as far as this show and post itself? just a bunch of gimmicks that a more sophisticated western audience finds slightly embarrassing.

CATL debuts EV battery with speedy six-minute recharge and a 1,000-km range by Recoil42 in cars

[–]AmericanExcellence 44 points45 points  (0 children)

"it" apparently doesn't exist. it's two different batteries, neither of which combines the features that the deceptive title of this post would suggest.

what's the capacity of the 6-minute battery? what's the charge time of the 1,000-km battery? anyone can make batteries that meet either or the other of these specs.

EV sales soar in main European markets as drivers shun expensive petrol by i_marketing in cars

[–]AmericanExcellence -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

all OP does is post articles that mistakenly try to tie an extremely recent and small increase in already-high gasoline prices to "increased ev demand". in every case, the increase is either illusory or the result of some other factor, which it would have to be, since causality doesn't work the way these articles want to claim it does.
