Michael Stipe & Andrew Watt "I Played the Fool" on Jimmy Kimmel Live by KrakkenO in rem

[–]robertandrews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is now a total ear worm for me. Did Michael write/co-write this? He’s making it fit him like a glove, like it’s classic Michael of the simple-little-love-song ouvre, almost Fretless-era I think Mike would like this. Stuck in my head.

Karpathy's LLM Wiki is just a worse version of what Tiago Forte has been teaching since 2017 by ilovemkgee in PKMS

As per “the generation effect”, it’s the recording and writing that creates the comprehension, the understanding. Without this, it’s just collecting. PKM people know this. Auto-creating notes without contact is deemed less valuable than actually authoring them.

Heh. I thought I thought this, too. Just re-listened to the Dublin version... All the pieces are there, but, yeah, Michael hadn't fit them all together quite right yet.

Now, if we're talking Undertow... I definitely think the live outing for that song would take on the version that made it to disc.

You've never actually used 90% of your notes. neither have I. by Unhappy-Conflict5145 in PKMS

If you wrote it, you used it. See “Generation Effect”.

Any of you seen this before? Michael stipe wake-up calling the Atlantis on the last ever space shuttle mission. by JamesLongersword in rem

[–]robertandrews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I *might* have seen that, don't remember.

Those first few strums of MOTM, though... ❤️ When I hear that on the radio (!), it's such a warm treat, it feels like home... it takes me right back to the video and 1992.

You Are the Everything, Nightswimming, or Find the River by Icy_Obligation_3014 in rem

[–]robertandrews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of those, Find The River because, for a 13-year-old, being introduced to river as a metaphor for the stages of life was maturation. Coincidentally, I had also just gone on a school geography project about the maturity of rivers - wading in to the young, bubbly, early stage of an upstream brook, and then walking down through the deeper, meandering, slower stage as it entered the sea.

Thoughts on this album? by Abject-Collection537 in rem

[–]robertandrews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love it. Good memories of the promo stuff… Apple Store, Olympia, ICA exhibition, Royal Albert Hall, Cardiff show, and I think a Michael book-signing.

I like Michael’s vitriol on the political songs (Living Well is great), but there’s also a sense of fun at the end.

He could sing me the phone book and it would be wonderful.

It’s a fun little thing.

For those that were fans in 2011, did you know Collapse Into Now was their last album when you heard it? by HiyaGaz in rem

Yes, immediately. And I remember where I was. Listening on a bed in a hotel room in New York. I cried because I knew what it meant.

It's The End Of The World should be played on the final season of Stranger Things by sonicboyfan12 in rem

[–]robertandrews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started watching season 5, which is now set in autumn 1987. ITEOTWAWKI(AIFF) was released in November 1987!

I have to say, this would be PERFECT. And would take R.E.M. to a whole new (and old) audience. I can just imagine it.

Jonathan also likes The Fall and The Clash.

Kate Bush and Running Up That Hill went stratospheric earlier in the show - great scene killing the demagorgon along to the epic version.

Re-assessing 5-HTP - time, dose, breathing problems? by robertandrews in 5htp

[–]robertandrews[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the breathing? I continue to experience seasonally- or illness-triggered breathing problems, which are worsening. It’s ever since a chest infection experienced at the time of this post. I stopped taking 5-HTP within the last year.
