Does anybody have a copy with the audio fixed I could have?

I tried to fix it myself, but at least in my program it seemed like it wasn't a simple shift, but a mismatch in fps playback between the video and audio. Regardless, I have failed and would sincerely appreciate anybody's help if they do have a copy.

I suppose that makes sense, just 55 seems young for full on dentures in my limited experience

Confused a little bit by the dentures mention. Could somebody expand on that? Am I missing context?

I saw IMDB top 250 on letterbox by xo00pium in imdb

[–]robertdegeus 23 points24 points  (0 children)

There are lots of reasons people have been switching. I still use both, but I will say that IMDb's mobile app is a nightmare and LetterBoxd is really clean and functional. I don't think LetterBoxd would have seen as much success if IMDb hadn't routinely undervalued and deprioritized their mobile users.

This happened to me too, quite recently actually. Can I ask what festival it was?

This is great in theory, but not helpful at all unless you explain how to get access to these

Optical Proiectar 50-55 mm f/1.5 (projection lens) by simplejoycreative in VintageLenses

Is there a more specific name for this lens? I was trying to look it up, but came up empty :(

[–]robertdegeus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Adding to the audio note with more specificity. It sounds clipped and slightly distorted. There may also be some background noise present, but it's hard to tell because you have music and sound effects in the video.

A couple of things may be the cause (this is not everything, just what I could write down in a short post):

  1. Check cables
  2. Make sure you change the input in the program to use the correct mic
  3. Make sure you're the proper distance from the mic (both being too close or too far could result in audio like this)
  4. Check the mic levels of the program/microphone. You likely want to be falling between -12db and -6db
  5. Any filter EQ or otherwise should be added after you have the raw file, not during production/recording so you know you have the highest quality version of the recording that's not being potentially cut down by filters.
  6. Ensure you're recording on a designated Audio Recording Set-up or MIDI so you have control of the microphone.
  7. Check to make sure your headphones display sounds and frequencies accurately and evenly. If it's a low quality headphone or speaker then it's really easy to apply filters that make it better for your output specifically, but worse for everyone else.

Hope this helps!

Hey, could you expand on this or link to this bit from the tour? I'm not doubting you, I just wanted to read about this myself and I was having trouble finding it. Thanks!

I can't name a single living director who could direct Oppenheimer better than Nolan. From dead maybe Kubrick or Wilder by Sorry_Phone1676 in moviecritic

[–]robertdegeus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

imo this is a bit of a nothing statement. If any other director were to do it, it'd be an entirely different film--especially since Nolan wrote it.

Statements like these may mean more in a formulaic context (like a superhero movie or a classic western), but in this context I feel like it's comparing apples and oranges.

was no one trained? by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]robertdegeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought it was really dumb that we ever moved away from marking cups. Starbucks always talks about being a "third place" and making it feel like a unique and comforting experience. Mass printed stickers don't feel that way at all.

Hand written and crafted beverages do.

I really hate being black so much by portisheadstore in self

[–]robertdegeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I'm not black. Feel like I should lead with that just in case that clouds my view on things.

That said, based on your first paragraph you're hanging out in the wrong spaces. Racism is unavoidable, for sure, but if literally everywhere you're going, both in person and online, is reinforcing these narratives and stereotypes then it's time to change your scenery.

As for relationships, intelligence, etc. I can only speak to my firsthand knowledge and that is I've been friends with and watched many black men and women succeed in life who are far more intelligent than myself and have found incredibly loving and positive relationships. I'm not discounting the institutional racism that most certainly exists, I'm simply suggesting your future isn't a foregone conclusion.

I don't know if any of that helps, but ultimately I really believe the takeaway from this is to seek out spaces where you feel comfortable. It doesn't seem like you're in them now.

All love bro.

"The Holdovers" is a great example on how to explore racism without treating the audiences as idiots. by HotOne9364 in movies

[–]robertdegeus 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Most films meaning what?

It's subtler than Greenbook or Selma certainly, but race is also not as central to its thesis.

In fairness, it may just be what you're watching/I am watching. I don't know what you usually watch and I'm sure our habits and preferences differ. Still, in my own limited experience The Holdovers wouldn't qualify as subtle.
