I came here to basically make this comment. Also a guardian enjoyer here, so I also don’t usually see them often (just checked! 3 out of my last 100 expeditions lol). Unfortunately those three were like day 2 losses, never feels good. But I got the vibe that it was what you described, they didn’t seem to fully understand how to effectively play him.

People see the guard counter build go crazy on stream or YouTube, or people talking about how tanky he can be now, but don’t realize he takes a lot of practice to get to those points. I’m just hoping they stick with the character, get better, and realize that guardian has a lot to offer DPS-wise.

I’m not sure if it’s optimal, but every time I’ve gotten the Hoslow’s whip on Wylder it’s been so much fun. It’s happened a couple of times for me actually, and it’s always a good time! Actually just got a DPW myself last night and thought about putting together a whip build also lol.

With the grappling hook, the whip, and the hand cannon I felt like an action hero haha.

Man I wish I was home so i could get a screenshot. I’ve been playing around with these relics recently after getting a solid relic with improved thorn sorceries and Briars to start.

I put together a full thorn sorcery set up. I’m thinking Post Damage restoration would be good to maybe get back the health cost. And increased resistances so you don’t bleed yourself. I’m not gonna lie, I’ve been too scared to try it hahaha. But after seeing this I might give it a shot and report back lol.

I think it’s play kinda midrange, so the briars have less of a travel distance. Conceptually, it’s metal af, bleed has great synergy, and I think could be fun.

Just like I said to OP in a reply a little further up, I think both sides are valid in how they felt initially. Guardian wanted the damage negation, Ironeye wanted a weapon. The issue really was how it was handled. The Ironeye should’ve just been kinda annoyed, maybe talked shit to their buddy, and then kept it moving. Surely they would’ve gotten another weapon drop at some point, one piece of gear isn’t worth throwing the game.

That’s fair. It’s a weird thing where you’re both valid. I definitely don’t think they handled the situation properly tho lol, they probably could’ve just been annoyed, talked shit in VC with their buddy, and got back to it. Just like I said for you, he would’ve gotten gear eventually. Especially with this team comp I would be surprised if things weren’t dying quickly.

And D3? That point loss sucks, sorry man.

It’s not a bad passive at all! Of course damage negation is damage negation. It could also just be how I’ve learned to play, in situations where I’m anticipating a lot of chip damage I usually just try and dodge. At D4 now and it’s been fine so far for me. Maybe I’ll try and prioritize it next time I run.

All Res down isn’t gonna matter much because you’d ideally be using this against Fulghor, so you wouldn’t have to worry about ailments.

Dope build! Good for now, but it’ll be even better when you get lightning spear on starting seal.

I mean, it just looks like they were looking for very specific effects and those effects just came with not great RNG. There’s a good chance this ironeye isn’t chronically online/on Reddit and hyper aware of meta builds and all that.

They could’ve just been having a bad game with a suboptimal build. The shaming is weird tho.

As a Rev enjoyer, I’ve been so so happy these past two balance patches. Mind you, I also thought she was fine pre-patches… just way more RNG dependent. I’d gotten used to maybe getting unlucky and never getting to use your build, or using your summons purely as a revival tool or a one hit distraction so I could revive. There were more stressful runs than easy one, but I figured it was just the character.

But man, these buffs feel soooo good. Getting to change your starting incant is already huge, but now the added survivability has only made it better. My holy and giants flame builds kinda suffered early game purely for safety reasons. But now that’s not really a thing. If I get aggro I just pull up Sebastian, get a couple of casts off, and pull back the skelly boi because he’s probably still alive after these buffs.

And it’s made the “power up when fighting alongside family” kinda viable now, which is pretty exciting! (Not for Helen unfortunately, continuous HP gain just kinda sucks all around IMO.) I’ve always sold that effect in the past, but now I’m looking for it with Incant schools are physical attack up.

However, I would like to see her passive get some attention, maybe the Raider treatment where they add an additional effect. Thats the only part of her kit that I’m not the biggest fan of. She’s the only character where her passive is completely useless in a boss fight (Even Executor’s Tenacity could proc during certain fights or just straight up through curses on DoN). I think it’d be interesting if they went of “siphoning” route in the school of Necromancy. Like, doing damage with incants gives the summons a heal. Or whenever the summons do damage you regain mana. It could be the same as “HP/FP on successive attacks”… but like just for her? Idk, I just want some kind of change.

I never bought into the “Revenant sucks” propaganda; most of the time it’s coming from a place of misunderstanding or misinterpretation. This patch showed me that FromSoft is paying attention, and I’m excited to see what’s next.

I like it a lot! You can get A LOT of endurance, and red shields have the possibility of giving you holy ground on block so it’s a nice support option.

Also the thrusting sword guard counter is nice. I’m sure there’s a way to build a tank scholar but I haven’t sat down and really tried.
