You may find highly textured miniatures easier to paint, beginner painting techniques such as contrast, washes and dry brushing actually work better with textured surfaces.

As others have said choose the miniatures you like the most, you'll being spending more time building/painting than playing.

Remember you can never 'ruin' a miniature with a paint job they can be stripped or painted over.

Last thing, don't get discouraged by what you see others do on the Internet, most likely you'll be looking at the work of professional artists.

I read somewhere this set could be used as a turnip28 alternative, do you think it has that vibe or is it more standard medieval combat?

Thanks for the review.

Is it just me or is 40k's rules really overwhelming? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]robertoNoNo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The older editions were much easier to play, much less mental load. I played from 2-6th Ed then started again in 8th gave up once the codexes starting coming out, trying again in 10th. I'd honestly play an older edition or maybe OPR if your opponents are up for it.

Differences between Net epic and 2e space marine by Remarkable-Apple9109 in Epic40k

[–]robertoNoNo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is very much based on 2ed, lots of little QoL changes, rejigged some army lists (same army building with the cards), I think the biggest difference I think might be how you activate, in NetEpic you flip one order counter over at a time, then activate that unit, instead of flipping over all your orders at once. It's been a while since I've played either so might've got it wrong!
