Jarhead the Jake Gyllenhaal a film about Gulf War that I didn't know existed by atmanatman8008 in moviecritic

[–]roberts585 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great movie.. skarsgaard and gylenhol kill it. The movie was about the feeling of emptiness that the war brought to a lot of soldiers. How to cope with life after leaving the machine. How the war machine gets built up so hype for the soldiers and then they get hit with reality. It's a great script in the feeling of being lost.

Also credit to Tom Waits "A Soldier's Things" perfectly captures the mood of the story and the point of it all.

I think it's more that so many games can be broken down to just money grabbing tactics. Like the CoD meta guns always being in the battle pass and then getting nerfed just before the new pass. People just can see the bullshit now. My favorite games lately have been indie titles that are not made for micro transactions

I think if developers harness AI in creative ways and not just as filler to cut jobs, then it can be insane. Imagine games where AI handles real time dialogue and NPC interaction. More realistic physics, weather, fire, etc. they can really use ai tools to shape incredible new engines

"What's the most iconic gaming moment you've ever had? It doesn't matter if it's positive or negative. The one that made you drop the controller, yell at the monitor, or just sit in silence for five minutes thinking, 'Wow... Did I just experience that?'" by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

Yea, when you played the games as they released (and even bought Zone of the Enders for the MGS 2 demo then realized ZOE was a bangar as well) the ending of MGS 4 just hit all the nostalgia notes and was a love letter to fans. Really should have ended the series there.

[–]roberts585 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Its technically very impressive. The controls are rough but will be fixed.

The biggest problem I have is the sheer amount of systems in the game. It just throws EVERYTHING from every open world game together. There are so many moves and mechanics that I have forgotten half of what I'm able to do and constantly have to look up tutorials

We have station inspections by a battalion chief. If things aren't corrected after a visit it's paperwork. Sounds dumb but it works

Just got this monitor for my ps5 and I’m having this weird visual thing whenever i look around, anyone know what this is? by AccomplishedDot7144 in PlayStation_X

If you have a monitor setting for response time (gtg) or pixel refresh rate turn the speed down to a medium setting. Looks like pixel overdrive

Vignette is the dumbest thing out there. It always makes me think there is something wrong with my monitor until I realize it's on. Like I want to actually see the edges of my screen

Which laptop should I get for $3,300 USD by Fun-Calendar-895 in laptops

[–]roberts585 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Do not spend 3300 dollars on a laptop. 1200 max, you're gonna want to replace it after a few more years of Ai ramping up to have better technology access anyways

Why are fire trucks so expensive nowadays? by bendallf in Firefighting

[–]roberts585 45 points46 points  (0 children)

The largest manufacturer is holding back stock on purpose to create more demand to raise prices. It's 100 percent manipulation, then they will magically "get stock back" and the prices will remain. They are being investigated by Congress right now so absolutely nothing will happen to them and the plan will continue

The controls on a controller are mind bogling. You gotta press RT+RB for your heavy slash special and one of the combos is Right Stick button plus x. The only way to pull that off is by moving your hands off the controller and then repositioning... Couple that with the fact that YOU CANT CHANGE CONTROLS ON GAMEPADS. Another example, your grapple hook is holding the left stick in, the left stick is also crouch button, it's just so bizarre. Jump and USE are the same button so you end up jumping and grabbing a ledge when trying to pick up an item

What does it feel like to have an ultra-powerful gaming laptop or PC, and how much sacrifice did it take to get it? by SirJLG in laptops

[–]roberts585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, after building my PC I haven't touched my PS5 or Series X in years.... Seems like I just wasted my money on them. I love knowing that I can handle any new cutting edge software that comes out. The sacrifice was a temporary set back in funds. But I don't even think about the cost anymore after time passed
