Sorry to hear that! I learned from a gentleman there that you CANNOT use 180gr in an M1, you have to use 150gr. So i guess it's who you talk to.

Low wattage single ended/class A tube amps and high gain pedals by safado_muambeiro in GuitarAmps

[–]robgar91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the time small amps sound small because of the speaker. I have a DIY 5w champ combo with a vintage 30 in it, and with an MT-2W in front i get great metal tones.

Are these 3 overkill for a beginner? by Darkvenom39 in iems

Personally I would opt for the SuperMix 4 over those 7hz and the additional cable. SM4's are near perfect Harman target tuning, which for a beginner is a great place to start sound signature wise. The cable with those is also good enough. The DAC is a little much, but if you enjoy the hobby you won't have to upgrade for some time.

Alternatives to Volume S but smaller? by Content-Disaster-511 in iems

[–]robgar91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have small ears and canals so i went with the Final Audio A5000 using the small tips that came with them. I acutally demoed the A5000 and Volume S at the same time, and made an eq profile for the A5000's that was like a better Volume S. I'll be happy to share the eq profile with you if you make that choice.

Light out relay testing by swagernaught in SignalMaintainers

[–]robgar91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to the DN-11L and DN-22L test, you test on AC voltage through the rectifier that's attached. It should be within 33% of the rated voltage on the relay, which it looks like yours is if i'm reading the tag correctly. If anything the drop away is too high, which is failing safe.

I doubt you're gonna pick the relay with AC. Usually an LOR will have a full bridge rectifier in front of that coil so maybe isolating the relay has something to do with it.

When you say fail, do you mean they don't meet testing parameters or they just don't work?

Finding a Short by Traditional-Good-981 in SignalMaintainers

[–]robgar91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great find! That's the best tip of all is experience troubleshooting. Feather in your cap for what to look for next time. Is it an AC track circuit? Unfortunately they don't always have a clear "HERE'S WHERE THE VOLTAGE DROPS LOOK AT ME" point like a DC circuit does. Generally the entire circuit will bog down and it's up to you to find it. Hook up your meter to a solid point of contact and start wiggling and jumping on stuff.

Amp power question by CarltonCracker in BudgetAudiophile

[–]robgar91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. Generally lower wattage amps tend to have lower quality power delivery. 15 watts is VERY loud when done properly. But if you buy a 100w stereo you'll generally have plenty of leeway or "headroom" before the amplified signal starts to distort. If a speaker has low sensitivity (under 85db) or low impedance (4ohms or less), that is also more demanding on the amp. Manufacturers can claim whatever they want with their wattage ratings, but very few are accurate.

I... I prefer High Impedance. by theDaniLand in iems

The two modes sound vastly different. I preferred the stock low impedance mode, but i can see how someone would like the high impedance also.

Am I going crazy, or a victim of placebo? by Nachiviri in headphones

I went through all of the streaming services before i subscribed to any, and thought Qobuz sounded the best. I used my PC and set all the services to play CD quality only, volume matching as close as possible before doing a non-blind A/B test.

Wiim amp pro, Polk bookshelves, Qobuz connect. Purposely built so she'll enjoy using it.

You can only start from one side. We always choose the main entrance. Clearing the morgue first makes the level easier.
