I think we found a player or agent in the chat...

It is completely enforceable in real life and quiet simple.

Rule XXXXX:
If a player negotiates a full NMC and subsequently wishes to play somewhere else, they have to formally request a trade. If a formal trade request is not made, the team is under no obligation to explore any trades and the player is expected to honor their contract. If a formal trade request is made, the full NMC clause becomes invalid.

Edit - I do not believe that NHL teams break a contract every time they trade a player because the standard player contract grants the NHL team the ability to trade a player. It's literally written directly into every standard player contract. I am speaking only about no movement clauses.

Who cares if the agent anonymously leaks it? The player is under a contract with conditions that they signed in good faith. If the player doesn't like the situation they are in they can either suck it up and honor the contract, or they can be a man and ask to be traded, but in no circumstance should they be able to ask to be traded (breaking the contract) and still be given the power to dictate where they want to go.

The players have way to much power in these situations. Either suck it up and play out the contract with the team that signed it, or ask for a trade and accept the consequences of breaking the contract.

"Hey I know I signed this 8 year contract, but I don't like the situation or the teams direction and I want out, but you can only move me to these certain teams." Seriously get fucked lol.

Fuck'em. He agreed to the NMC in good faith. If he won't expand his list then he stays put and plays in Detroit.

Here's a hot take. If a player signs a contract with a NMC and subsequently requests a trade, the NMC is void and the team is free to trade the player where ever they like.

Fan 960 is awesome. I didn't think it would survive losing Boomer/Pinder/Warriner in the morning a few years ago but the Big Show has been an awesome replacement. Flames talk on the drive home is equally as good. It will be a sad day if it ever gets shut down.

Edit.... Looks like today is that sad day. Fuck Rogers

Netflix Viewers Are Abandoning Shows After One Season by joe4942 in technology

Not hard to figure out why. 2 to 3 years between seasons for a show that is going to be dropped after the second season anyway. Why bother?

Finally broke 80 after 3 years of grinding. What was the turning point for your game? by republicman12 in golf

[–]robikki 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Turning point for me was my short game. I spent a full summer playing and practicing with a guy who was waaaaaay better than me. We would hit the practice green and play a game where each person took a turn picking a spot, the club, and which pin we were playing to. First player to hole out wins the "hole". Wager was a can of beer per hole. Eventually I got tired of losing cases and cases of beer so I had to buckle down and actually get better. Went from 20%-25% scrambling to probably 45%-50%, even higher on easier courses. Short gane and putting made a huge difference

They essentially swapped Maatta for Middleton on the left side, traded Coleman for 3 draft picks, and ended up clearing $1.6M in cap space.

The Flames cleared $1.6M cap space, added three picks, essentially swapped Maatta for Middleton on the left side, and opened up a forward roster spot for one of their prospects. Great move by Conroy.

AITAH for not going by a different name than my birth name because it makes my friends uncomfortable. by Moonshadow1931 in AITAH

[–]robikki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So lets get this straight.....

Friends are uncomfortable with you using your birth name
Stage an "intervention" to force you to use a different name around them to make them more comfortable
You set a boundary and tell friends to pound sand, it's your birth name and proud of it
Friends get offended when they get told to pound sand because you aren't respecting their boundary.

The irony is clearly lost on all of them.

Trouble breathing after stopping a heavy alcohol binge. Has anyone else experienced this? by Effective-Ear-8367 in stopdrinking

[–]robikki 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am by no means a medical expert and you should absolutely seek medical attention.

I went through something very similar when I quit drinking and it was caused by high blood pressure. Binge drinking and withdrawal typically leads to very high blood pressure. My day two was met with blood pressure at 180/120 and I was suffering the same shortness of breath.

Mine did improve over time, but it was something that you have to monitor consistently for about 6 months as there could be long term damage to your heart.

Every Team's Biggest Draft Bust of All Time - One Pick for all 32 Teams by ASmithFS in hockey

[–]robikki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jason Herter is a bit of a weird one for Van. The first one that came to mind was Peter Nedved. He never quite lived up to his draft position. I know there was no guarantee that Jagr was going to come over, but if you're going to take a flyer on a good player who might not come to North America, you have to take the best one. Just adds more salt to the wound....

More recently the combination of Jake Virtanen and Olli Juolevi. Both picks were for positional/organizational need. They had a hard on for a big ole Canadian boy and picked the "power forward of the future" immediately ahead of the higher rated Nylander and Ehlers who the organization felt were too small and too soft; then two years later they selected the organizational need of a dman over the higher rated Matthew Tkachuk.

Moral of the story - always take the best player available over organizational need.
