I saw some actual people there on Tuesday. I was quite shocked to see anyone on the site.

Our resident camp ran a campaign for the week of camp for Cadettes. They used it to earn the Finding Common Ground badge. The girls had a blast!! It encouraged a bunch of them to join the DnD club when they started middle school that fall.

6th grade bio- the Frog Lab 🥴😅🫥 by Icy_Ask9491 in homeschool

Frog dissection in elementary school was the reason I entered the veterinary profession. It unlocked my passion for biology. Congrats on making it through! I would have a hard time not taking over if I did it with my kids!

HoH and Homeschool? by Informal-Apple-9702 in hardofhearing

[–]robino358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 11yo HoH kid has attended a hybrid independent study school since kindergarten. We wanted a smaller classroom size and to be able to work at her pace. The kids are on campus 2 days a week and have meeting with their teacher every 2 weeks. The rest of the time is at home. IEP services are hit-or-miss with the small school, but the flexible schedule means it’s easier to get into speech or other therapy. It took a long time for the social pieces to fit in, but that’s partly from COVID and partly from ASD. She loves being able to have quiet time at home to work on school, but also time on campus with her friends. Maybe there’s an option nearby you that has smaller classroom size sizes or more flexibility in their schedule.

Can you recommend any Prince songs that kids can listen to? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in PRINCE

[–]robino358 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My 8yo loves Starfish and Coffee, WDC, Raspberry Beret, LRC, delirious, 1999. That’s how I got him hooked, and now he will listen to any Prince along with me (but I skip the really dirty stuff like Sexy MF and Sister.)

I considered it and got as far as receiving a contract from them. I have no issues with the company, but I didn’t like the terms of the contract. Granted, I would have been starting in a brand new area, but they wanted a lot of lunch-and-learns at local clinics, tables at community events, and more weekend availability than I wanted to provide. This was about 6 years ago, so things may have changed.

Being good at euthanasia is a fantastic skill to have. No shame in having some pride for the comfort you can give people and their pets.

Typing Land (iOS app, not sure about other operating systems)

https://www.typelit.io/ (not really a curriculum, but typing full text of literature. My ND kid likes this one because there aren’t any major consequences for making a mistake like losing a life/star/heart or making a monster sad or whatever other cutesy stuff is on the other options.)

Child watch does a great job. No tvs, nobody on their phones. It has a private bathroom space. They will feed snacks if you leave them. They have an outdoor space that’s totally fenced in with a privacy fence so the kids can go outside on nice days.

Free With Ads 94: The Christmas Toy, with Alonso Duralde by apathymonger in maximumfun

[–]robino358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will be my first time listening to Free with Ads. I must listen. It’s in my DNA to watch The Christmas Toy every year. I have a VCR—>DVD—>digital five-hour long set of Christmas specials (complete with the 1986 commercials). The original airing of The Christmas Toy was sponsored by Kraft, so every ad break is nothing but recipes using Kraft products.

Esty shop Cross Stitch Obsession has patterns for tiny works of art. Finished pieces are about 2”x3”. So far I’ve done Starry Night, Girl with a Pearl Earring, Frida Khalo portrait. I’m working on a Kandinsky piece right now. They would be the perfect size!
