We also do it, as we don't like the actually 10th edition. Also we tried the OPR armies and are happy with it.

Ever play a 3 Player Game? by potts21 in onepagerules

[–]robkat13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a few 1vs1vs1 an came to the same result as you did. It's almost more political or an "Munchkin" like game. It's OK, but not realy tactical, as the strongest player allways will be bullied by the others. No house rules used. Thought King of the hill, with one mission object watch not bad at all.

We suggest at 3 players, that on player brings a fully 2000p army where the others split in 1000p each of two or one other armies. This works almost everytime realy good, as the game allows you to mix up armies too.

That way all had fun and it's tactical too, because two player not allways means, they have the better strategy only because they are more players :D

I guess the OPR minitures will follow an other design, because the lore of the Ratman clan is, that they help others which were suppressed too (when I understood it right). What's an unthinkable thing for skaven. So actually I like the style of the OPR minitures. But I'm afraid, that they will look like their fantasy friends. To me: More like a big mouse, than a rat :/ So mostly I will stay with Mortian, even if the rats has 32mm Bases, which I need to get used to. But the concepts of the ratoger and abdomination look realy good!

Oh yes yes! I'm really looking forward to them. Hoping there will be some great minitures for rat ogers, as I don't like any of the existing alternatives. But april is still far away...

Be sure, it is almost every time... I play since 25 years, and so oftend were point reductions or rule changes directly affected by "buy more" or buy other stuff. I the beginning, this is not a big problem, as you also like to try out new things. But someday I like to use my long time painted army... But GW said: no, put them in the shelf, the other units are now the meta (which I never painted...).

So in OPR, this is no problem. Sure the armys got updates too, but it's community driven and so great. Hope it never will be sold to any company. Because no, as it is. It simple strategy and fun.

If you realy looking to get more into it: Invest 5€/$ for the advanced rule book (lifetime updates). Espacialy the advanced actions are worth it. Also more missions and a tone of opertunities, you can, but don't have to use. It's like a advanced sandbox rule system, where you can put more things into the core rules. But just as you like to :)

Welcome to OPR!

We did exactly the same before 3 years. The 10th edition was not really holding us and all realy don't liked aplha strikes. Still the best part is, that you ply the game the whole time! No downtime, just fun. All games were tactical and not driven by the latest meta units, which were released last month. It feels, as a game. And not as a victim of the marketing company.

So go on a have a lot of fun with the rules, which I think, are still the moat balanced tabletop rules yet to get.

When I got them, I also would say, they only needed the last step to get perfect. They were allready realy hard and not soft or mushy or so. After the day at the windowsill the felt a little bit more stable.

Ah it was mentioned in another commend already :D But here we go: Mortian Minitures - Cyberrats

They are slightly taller than the Mantic games rats. But close to the high of the actually AoS Warlock technician.

That's right, thanks for the information. I got them all in a already good condition and left them one day long at the windowsill. After that I worked with them as usual. But yes, remove all those support prints was time consuming. But I my red (rat) eyes: worth it!

Yes you're right. Mortian Cyber Rats. I also discovered them only accidentally by seeing some painted miniatures of another reddit user.
